    TSM Perfect Gem Pricing

Hello everyone, and thanks in advance for any responses to my question (first time poster ).

I was wondering if there is anyway to make the Perfect gem cuts post based on what the Rare gems are selling for. For example, Perfect Energized Alexandrite on my realm are currently being listed araound 280g. The Wild Jade equivalent is being sold around 250g. Obviously, no one is buying the Alexandrite when the Wild Jade is 30g cheaper. I'd like to set up TSM (if possible) to reference the Wild Jade price when posting Perfect Energized Alexandrites (and other gems). Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I had exactly the same question, and after looking at the links provided I was not satisfied with the answers. Those posts either didn't directly relate to the question, or the question was briefly covered with a simple answer of "not possible".

Can the prices of uncommon perfect cuts be set to match exactly the price of rare cuts automatically? Yes. They can be. But it'll take some doing, as there is no easy one click method of doing it.

Here is an example. You have a perfect precise pandarian garnet. You want the price to be equal to a precise primordial ruby, minus your undercut, and never to be below the price of a raw primordial ruby plus your crafting profit, as that is what it would cost you to remake that gem reliably. You want your normal price to be 1000% of the cost of a raw primordial ruby, and your maximum price to be 3000%. You want to relate your prices to the cost of crafting the primordial ruby, as it is the equivalent to the perfect pandarian garnet and the only reliable way to produce a gem with those stats in one shot.

    Some info you'll need:

    Item IDs
    ---------
    Primordial Ruby - 76131
    Precise Primordial Ruby - 76693

    Your minimum price string
    -------------------------
    max(110% dbminbuyout(item:76131), VendorSell)

This will set your minimum price to the greater of either 110% of the cost of a primordial ruby, or 1g50s. Basically it will be "110% crafting" or slightly above vendor price for the Perfect Precise Pandarian Garnet.

    Your maximum price string
    -------------------------
    3000% dbminbuyout(item:76131)

Essentially this would be 3000% crafting.

    Your normal price string
    ------------------------
    dbminbuyout(item:76693) - 1c

This will set your normal price to the current price of a Precise Primordial Ruby minus 1c (chang it to whatever you set your undercut to).

Some things to keep in mind. This will require a large amount of extra work. You will have to make an auctioning operation for every single cut that you're selling perfect gems of. You will also need to be scanning the auction house for prices on both the raw rare gem and cut rare gem equivalents. Also, your tooltip won't reflect the current auction house value properly, as it will show the current price of the Perfect Precise Pandarian Garnet. It will however so you the proper auctioning data, the minimum price being the higher of either the 110% raw Primordial Ruby price, or the vendor price of the Perfect Precise Pandarian Garnet, the normal price being the current price of the Precise Primordial Ruby minus your undercut, and the max being the 3000% of the cost of a raw Primordial Ruby.

Also worth mentioning doing this will on occasion throw out error messages. If the sale price of a Precise Primordial Ruby is less than the price of a raw Primordial ruby plus the 10% markup at the same time a Perfect Precise Pandarian Garnet is more than the price of the raw Primordial ruby plus the markup, it will throw an error, and it will list it under your post scan for posting. It will not post it, it'll just spit out the error message and skip it.

I have further testing yet to do as in the example I've provided only one possible set of circumstances existed, that of the perfect uncommon cut being over the minimum, and the rare cut being under it. I don't know what would happen if both were under, or both were over, or if the rare cut was over and the perfect cut was under.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas on where to run with it, and better answered than some of those other posts.

@jhill680 , just thought I'd point out that this thread is over a year old, long before TSM2.0 (and custom prices) was released. So, the threads I've linked above are certainly no longer applicable. Perhaps your post would be better served as a "TSM Perfect Cut Pricing Guide" or something along those lines.
