    Drop Herbalism for...

    So I've decided to focus on gold making for the first time. I have 600 herbalism and 600 Inscription. I just passed 200k this morning and want to branch out into another market. I was thinking about alchemy. Is this a good choice? Is there another profession I should consider when dropping herbalism? Thanks for your advice!

    Any advice? Looking for thoughts because I don't want to make a choice and then regret it. Is Alchemy the way to go, or should I look at another profession?

    If you go Alchemy you have 2 professions using the same priced herbs. unless you are purely focussing on the Transmute side of things once levelled.

    There is not "this is the best profession to pick" because all servers have different choices and no matter what people suggest it might not work for you.

    1) Do you have another gatherer? I think it also depends if you have another gatherer or not, or if you WANT another gatherer or not. If you do want a gatherer, the best choice I believe is a dual gatherer. So in this case dropping Herbalism would make sense (with the intention of eventually putting an Herbalist on another toon that also has mining).

    2) Alchemy is a good choice, but as previously stated can be server dependent. Alchemy has two main "profit" options, Elixirs and Transmutes. Potions are a no-go on all but the craziest servers. Transmute Mastery is almost always the more lucrative, with the advent of group-flasking available at the guild level, individual flasks have a lost much of their demand/flavor, but gold can still be made with them.

    3) Are you in any non-Herb based professions, e.g, Enchanting, JC?

    With all the data out there on "the shuffle", considering adding JC to the mix is almost a no-brainer. Enchanting could also be nice, but gaining access to the mats is a tad more difficult in my opinion, so Enchanting is not always a good choice (for me, anyway) as the "next profession" when starting out.

    I vote blacksmithing or jewelcrafting.
    Having a complete shuffle process is really great.
    Jewelcrafter to enchanter
    miner-> Blacksmith

    Always be willing to level another toon, you can always use another alchemist on ever toon because of the cooldown restricts materials.

    I was of the understanding that "Cauldrons" as they were called in Cata, do not exist in MoP. Did I miss something?

    Thanks for the feedback! One other option I see would be tailoring especially since I am a clothie. How profitable do you guys find tailoing to be? I know leg enchants and bags will sell, but compared to the time/cost is it worth it? Thanks again!

    No, you are correct Utes. No more cauldrons in MoP. So flasks are definitely more viable than in Cata. Problem I'm finding is people are undercutting to less than the cost of a golden lotus...=/

    I would also have to vote for transmute alchemist. Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than a x5 proc. on my daily living steel cool down

    I make decent profits with my tailor, i sell bags and pvp gear. I usually bring in anywhere from 500g-3k daily. I have some epic recipes that will bump that number up once they sell. I have two of the 496 dps items crafted on the AH. My server has just been too cheap to buy them yet lol. The majority of my gold has come from inscription this xpac. I just leveled a jc last week and I'm already seeing profit with it, but I'm expecting better returns there later in the xpac. I have an enchanter that I'd delete if it wasn't for the shuffle. I dont see me doing the rep grind to get the higher enchant recipes until they nerf the rep lol.
