Crafting market has officially tanked on my server...

With the exception of MAYBE glyphs (although they have so much competition that the only way to make a profit is to AH camp for hours and hours), literally every other crafting profession has been reduced to at cost of materials. Shuffling, crafting, transmuting, flipping, etc are all reduced to basically a 0 profit margin.

Enchanting for example, Mysterious Essence are exactly the same cost as 5 spirit dusts and shard are exactly the same price as 5 essences. Not only that, but practically every enchant has dropped in price to the cost of mats. Even previously profitable enchants like dancing steel has dropped. Same with Alchemy and Living steel transmutes.

Even 553 gear has been reduced to a couple thousand.

Anyone else experiencing this almost extreme lull period? I guess all thats left to do is prepare for WoD...

I am having this issue, that's why I've been dumping all of my materials in relation to MoP, I believe it was @Zerohour who made a post on his blog about dumping all the MoP items he has, I followed suit, same as a lot of other players have been.

Work on Older Markets, as their is still profits to be made outside of crafting

I'm seeing the same on my server. In terms of professions i can still get a decent penny with enchanting (mop enchants without sha crystals) and jc (a handful of gems sadly). These will stay profitable up until a few weeks before 6.0 hits.
Apart from that i've completely dropped doing crafting/xmuting/flipping. Even my limited suppy route stuff is selling dirt cheap (normal price was 400g, min was 20g, but atm a lot of people have been posting quite low, i tried buying out their stock to relist but they just kept adding in more so i stopped....)
I think the largest reason(s) for the drop in prices is due to several things:
    1) more and more people know about shuffles, playing the ah, looking for deals/flips
    2) tsm has gone from being a tool used by a handful of people to a wider array of players, all of which want to make gold. While i think its nice that more people are entering markets with the use of tsm one can clearly see that they dont really master the addon. Ive seen people join the jc/enchanting markets late on and post their enchants below the standard 110% crafting cost.
    3) its the end of the expansion, its been months since the last tier of raiding/pvp season was added so naturally demand is low. People with alts rarely care about having high level gear on their second, third or fourth alt.
    4) auction bots are everywhere. Whilst typing this there are two known ah bots right infront of my bank char.

While you others wait for wod i can recommend several ways to make gold/stockpile
    1) the transmog market is still profitable - though not as good as it once was. Obviously competition may vary, but expect 4-5 sellers at any given time (camp ah for better results)
    2) start farming stuff that may be taken away once wod hits. Many dungeons are getting revamps, and this may include completely different loot tables. When the scarlet wings were revamped i farmed boe gear there for a week and netted an easy 500k selling stuff that was no-longer available
    3) stockpile cheap mats (dusts, ore, shards, cloth, etc.) As we are nearing the end of mop windwool, spirit dust, ethereal shards and ghost iron will all start to fall in price. Buy out as much as you can, create a guild bank or 4 and start selling a month or more after wod hits. The same can be said about embersilk bags. In my experience most people will forgo making gold whilst they level up their toons, which gives a handfull of us the chance to post wih only minor competition when wod hits.

I know i went a bit off topic, so apologies for that!

This for sure, UBRS might be worth taking a look at, was mentioned in another thread around here, also Razorfen Instances are being revamped, along with Blackfathom Deeps, so would be good to take a look into what's being removed from there, if anything

Ya, I would say this is a typical cycle that happens at the end of the life of every major patch, but even more so at the end of an expansion. As news of the new Beta comes out, people become less and less willing to spend gold on current stuff, as they know it will be going away. Exceptions might be in necessities, like glyphs, as you say, but people start shifting away from crafted gear and so on, onto more fun things, like pets/mounts... if they don't already have it.

I think another part you might face as well is lots of people letting their accounts expire, thus lowering demand for overall items. I mean, this has been an insanely long patch with no new content. No new gear to rush to earn. After ICC in WOTLK that was an insanely long patch from 3.4 to Cata, and Blizz at least acknowledged it and gave people Ruby Sanctum which gave a little boost in the gear grind and Gem/ench and crafting market at least. MoP? Nothing... they let us upgrade our gear 4 times instead of 2, but that does nothing for the need to buy mats.

To the people that are playing, they want to spend gold, you just need to find what they are buying. This is a little time-consuming, but I've found I can get dirt-cheap Herbs now from bulk suppliers, and with a steady advertisement in trade every 5 minutes, I can sell 10-15k worth of Mysterious fortune Cards p/day just afking in a city lol. Consortium Key Sender makes milling the herbs a bit more reasonable. Good luck!

Just as a counterpoint, this isn't (yet) universal. I have been amazed at how strongly the crafting market has held up on my mid-size server. The profits on blue MoP gems and routine MoP enchants have been squeezed a bit, but not to the point of being unprofitable. The Sha Crystal enchant sale rate seems to have slowed a bit, but profits per enchant are actually higher than they had been in ages. Primal diamonds have slowed a bit in sales, and have definitely dropped in price, but then so has the cost of the uncut ones that I buy.

The leg armor/spell thread and shoulder enchant markets are ones that I have only recently entered, so I don't have any historical perspective. But I'm selling all the high-end ones I can craft, and at a tidy profit.

And much to my surprise I'm selling the 522 head and boot crafts that you learn from Magnificence of Leather, and that take the Haunting Spirits. I sell about 2 of those items a week at 5k+ profit.

So all in all, I've been waiting for months for the shoe to drop, and it hasn't done so yet. I'm running pretty lean on my mats, and am not stockpiling too much, so I won't be left holding the bag when the markets finally(?) do crash.

My theory is that the crafters/sellers have given up and dropped out of the market before the raiders/buyers

    That it was.

I mentioned all MoP junk in my blog, I never dump older expansion items purely because the prices have settled. i.e., Illusion Dust is valued at XXg per stack/unit, unless some exploit crops up the price should remain at this level or rise (in perpetuity). Pandaria dust however, the price is pure speculation, so whether you choose to keep or sell, you are taking a risk either way. The safe play is to sell, as there will not be a huge demand for it in the next expansion like there is with Hypnotic (a person can level 525-600 with very few dusts/essences compared to other tiers).

Not trying to rehash my blog here, but dumping at this point would be a good bet. Let the stockpilers have their guild banks fill with MoP, there will be far more gold to make in the next expansion and fortune favors the liquid.
