    Rerolling - Which 2 Professions?

    Hello,

I've been thinking about having something of a fresh start recently and instead of going alt crazy I was considering just having one main character and a level 1 posting toon.

The question is which 2 professions should I take up on my main? My first thoughts were jewelcrafting and enchanting - but JC hasn't made me all that much money in Pandaria (relatively speaking) and I'm not sure how profitable it will be moving ahead. My top 2 professions for making gold so far have been leatherworking and blacksmithing. PvP armour of all flavours sells like hot cakes as do the raiding epics.

For what it's worth I'll be on a mid to high pop RP server, though I'm not entirely sure how relevant that is these days given the possibility of having Fused Realms.

    Any thoughts?

I think you answered your own question. As said in another thread, by @Zerohour :

Cata's shuffle was more profitable simply because not as many were doing it. Wrath's shuffle was insanely profitable because very few were doing it. The market is at near saturation levels on most servers because this (and glyphs) are two of the "go to" professions taught by about every blog, forum, podcast, and stream available today.

To answer the topic's question: Yes, worth your time if you're looking for a consistent money maker. Not worth your time if you don't have the time to constantly participate in it and break ore.

Didn't want to open new thread in Speculation so I'll just ask for your thoughts here. New expansion is far away, but what are your thoughts on char levels required for 650/675, if we take into account that before Cata max level char wasn't required, and now you need lv85 for 600

I guess I'm just looking for a prophet that'll comvince me I don't have to take all my alts 85-90 before new expansion.

Oh boy. I blame the exhaustion, I was reading some stuff on wiki today and I guess it got mixed up, and then I panicked since I really don't want to do more than 2-3 alts up to 90

So yeah, it was lv80 in previous expansion. Let's hope it stays that way (85 instead of 90)

Hoping so as well, though I did level my important ones to 90, for easy access to farm for lazy soh anyway.

It will most likely be 85, for every expansion, they've never required a player to have been level capped in the previous expansion for them to max professions, although some professions (tailoring/lw/bs) strongly benefit from being level capped compared to others.

Needed 50 for BC, 65 for Wrath, 75 for Cataclysm, and 80 for MoP. 85 seems the next logical step.

BS/Tailoring are on my main, shouldn't be a problem. But leveling 7 Alch/Scribes? ugh.

So far I'm planning to take only main, alt with Mining/Herb and 1 with Ench/JC up to 90. I dropped the dungeons/raids/PvP completely, trying to find what little fun I can in AH game.

If the AH is your main focus in the game, you might consider looking for an RAF partner so that you can have the full professions array available. It's the closest thing to painless leveling I've experienced.

I'm speculating that the server merges (fusion, whatever they want to call it) will bring folks back to the game and inspire others to level alts. I'm already seeing threads like "How many alts are you going to level before 5.4?". So an RAF partner might be relatively easy to find.

    Just a thought.

    I have 45 alch/scribes O_o

Might be expanding to new servers as well with another set of 44 on each (thinking 2 more servers before next expansion)

But you want the essentials on max level toons if possible, LW/BS/Enchanting/Tailoring. Due to most of their money being made through patterns and they seem to like making them rep based.

Stacking alts for passive daily income though is never a bad idea.
