Things People Already Do, that You Should be Doing too

    1. Be Transmute Specced. Unless you're getting some hella cheap herbs then it's going to be detremental to you're gold making
    2. DO YOUR DAILY GEM - if you're online time is high then download an addon like Altoholic as this will remind you when your gem transmute is ready. I have found that King Amber and Cardinal Ruby to be the most profitable. Also remember to cut them if you're a Jewelcrafter or ask a friend. If you sell the uncut you're just burning money.
    3. Transmute - Meta Gems - This is insane, on my server you can pick up the mats for a Skyflare/Earthsiege for around 10g and sell the Popular cuts (Chaotic for Skyfalre, Relentless for Earthsiege) for around 60-80g, that's a massive profit. Add on top of that the chance to proc from you're Transmute Mastery and you're just maxing your profits.
    4. Transmute Titanium - This is amazing in combination with Blacksmithing or Mining. Buy out cheap Saronite Ore, Smelt it, Transmute it and then craft Rods, Weapon Chains, Plating, Shield Spikes (if they're profitable) or if you can pick up some cheap Eternals and do the math, Smelt Titansteel. From there you can sell the Titansteel or try and craft a BOE epic, however this close to Cataclysm be wary as BOE epic sales might plummet.

Just basic tips, but if you didn't already know them they will make you a ton of gold with minimal effort. Also check out similar guides for other professions that I plan to write and also I will, in the next few days, write up some extensive guides, FAQ's and tutorials for most of the Addons that I'm currently using.
I used to run a blog called Just Another Goblin

I quit for 7 months, now I'm back. Hi...

I couldn't agree more. I've been contemplating swapping some professions to take advantage of this. With no cooldown on meta gems, the transmute procs make this even more profitable.

Also, another thing you can do that has netted me quite a bit of gold at times is check the prices of Thorium and Arcane Crystals on your server. On my server, Arcane Crystals are usually dirt cheap and Thorium is always either extremely cheap or really expensive. When the price of thorium goes down, I use 1 Arcane Crystal and 1 Thorium Bar for Transmute: Arcanite Bar. Arcanite Bars are needed to make a LOT of BoE blues/epics from BS/JC, but most importantly it is needed to smelt Elementium (the legendary ore) which is needed for the quest for Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker (the legendary from Molten Core).

I don't know about your server but on mine, the market for these is huge because my server is extremely high pop and more people than you can imagine farm MC to get Thunderfury and also farm BWL for Eternium Ore. Each arcanite bar usually costs me about a gold to make and I can easily make 15g+ per arcanite bar.

If you're a blacksmith, arcanite rods are always in demand because if no one's got the market down, people will pay insane prices for them. Acranite bars usually cost about 2-4 gold to make on my server, and it takes three arcanite bars to make one rod. Rods can sell between 20-80 gold, though usually they're somewhere smack-dab in the middle. I try to keep 5 or so up up on the AH at a time and just replenish them as need be.

This just occurred to me. With the epic gem cooldown going away use your cooldown to transmute eternals, for example [spell]Transmute: Eternal Water to Fire[/spell]. I have a bunch of water and earth eternals that I could use to make into fire which are much more valuable.

Great idea. Now I know what I'm going to do with those extras waters that keep stacking up.

Just because they are removing epic gem cooldowns doesn't mean any other cooldowns are being removed. Hell, Transmute Truesilver still has a shared cooldown and they have removed others, but it still stays.

I am actually assuming the cooldown is not being removed for any other xmutes. The point i was trying to make was to use your xmute cooldown on making eternal fires instead of epic gems since soon you will have all the epic gems your mats can make.

As Cold said there was no indication that eternal transmutes would be removed. The blue post was simply concerning epic gems. I don't expect them to removed because the TBC and Classic transmutes still trigger a 20 hour CD. However, you are still missing the most important thing here. Even though transmutes for epic gems are off of CD in 4.01 it still makes more sense to transmute gems instead of eternals pre 4.01. Now if you were talking about what to use your CD on post 4.01 then I apologize, but I'll post for some that may not get what I am saying.

What I mean by "sense" is that you make more gold transmuting epic gems. Simply look at the material cost for both scenarios and what you will be able to sell the end product for. For example, Eternal Fires have been consistently selling on my server for 10-12g and Scarlet Rubies sell for 15-20g. Cardinal Rubies sell raw for 75-80g (lets hope you are not selling them uncut, but that's another story). Worst case scenario my materials cost me 32g and I sell a raw gem for 75g. This nets me 43g profit in the worst possible case scenario.

If I look at the sale price of Eternal Water they are dirt cheap let's say at 50s. I could transmute that into fire and make a huge percentage profit and sell it for 12g. But, who cares because you only netted 11g50s. Moral of the story, I have never seen normal eternal tranmutes make more gold then gem transmutes. However, post 4.01 go crazy with whatever CD transmute nets you the most.

I definitely think that's what he was getting at with the comment. If there is no cooldown on epic gems, you might as well put the cooldown to use on eternals.
