    Buying other scribes scrolls beware...

If you are buying other scribes scrolls be aware if they steal your inks do NOT count on blizz fixing this. I got scammed this way and blizz did nothing so know you are taking a risk doing it this way.

Can you elaborate on how you did your trade with the other scribe and what the GM's reason for not helping was?

Just because you didn't get he answer that you wanted doesn't mean they didn't want to help you.

I will put money on you not having a proper agreement with the other player before you started trading things.

Well in wow its always the victims fault so im sure i did it all wrong the guy i had done business with before whispered if i wanted to buy some more scrolls off him he had two scrolls i said sure so he said hed get on his scribe then mssg me from his scribe i traded inks he made cards ignored me and logged off.
I am sure somewhere in there i had not had him sign a 10 page contract notarized properly. I did not make this post looking for sympathy or blame just a heads up for the community to be very cautious with all this.
The GM said if it was as i told him id get reimbursed then i get an email saying blah blah your screwed have a nice day.

What by the way is the blizzard defenition of a "proper agreement" I seldom ever deal directly with the public for reasons just like this.

Below is the email they sent me within 2 mins of conversation with GM awesome investigation lol.

We have investigated the player you have reported for scamming, and are taking the appropriate actions. Because of privacy concerns, we are unable to disclose the nature of the action taken.

Due to many variables involved with item reimbursement and types of scams, restoration is not guaranteed. We have made every effort to verify your particular case, but unfortunately, we were unable to provide the restoration of items or money. We are sorry for any inconvenience you may have been caused. While we will make every effort to provide assistance in cases of loss, the decision to go forward with a restoration is entirely at Blizzard's discretion.

You don't need to make contract of course, but I always throw in a quick "so just to be clear, we're trading my x for your y, right?". Haven't had any problems yet.

I had never in 8 years of wow had this problem either. always a first i guess. I have however stopped buying scrolls. Decks are not selling on my server anyway hopefully that will change come faire time when they can be made into trinkets.

Has anyone heard of Blizzard taking action against someone who you give crafting materials to who then doesn't give you back the crafted item? I always assumed you were screwed if this happened. I'll do it for lower-cost items, but for anything expensive, I'd never do it. I've seen people trying to get jewelcrafters in trade to craft the panther mounts with their mats--that's just so friggin risky. Someone ripping off your Orb of Mystery is too big a risk to try that kind of thing just to be cheap.

Actually yes, I had that happen.
Back in WoltK, before I leveled Eng on my main, I needed some arrows for my huntertwink. The ones where you needed to grind rep in ICC for. I farmed ore until I had 10 Eternal Shadows, then asked in trade for an Eng to turn them into arrows for me for a tip.
Someone answered, we made the deal, and I was just repeating it in whisper to make sure he got what I wanted from him, that I would give him the Shadows, he would make me the arrows, and then trade them with me for the gold we agreed on.
So we traded, he made the arrows, then told me "Thanks for the supply! Now I'm off to the AH haha!" and put me on ignore.
It was just a minor loss, but the attitude of that guy bothered me to no end, so I put a ticket in.
A few hours later I got a GM to chat me up, basically telling me I had mail. They sent me the 10 Shadows back.
Of course I don't know if something happened to that guy - but I was reimbursed.

Edited to add: Of course that was "in the old days". When tickets actually got answered in a matter of hours, even minutes in cases like hacked accounts of guildies and the like. Not now, where a ticket says it needs 11 days and 8 hours to be proceeded and all you get then two weeks later is a canned response starting with "Sorry I was not able to catch you online" anyways. So I wouldn't bet ma tail on them helping nowadays, even if you HAD made a 10 page, properly notarized, contract...

If you find me using way too much commas when writing English, don't worry! I compensate that by using not enough when writing German! Typos are by design to entertain the audience.

If this is what happened then you would have gotten your gold/mats back. Something along the way has been lost in translation. It's very easy to think that you said something and that the other player said something when in fact it never happened. I have had many similar dealings with Blizzard CS and never had a problem with them.

Why you got such a "negative" response is because you came with a completely negative post giving no information. Simply asking for confirmation of what the agreement is is not a 10page contract and is what most people doing in every day life let alone in a game.

When you say he ignored you, did he literally put you on ignore, i.e. "xxx is ignoring you.", or did he just not respond? It is possible (however unlikely) that something happened to his computer or his connection, he got knocked offline, and wasn't able to come back (especially likely if he happened to be in New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut etc when Sandy hit). Regardless, the GM response sounds like they may have looked at the chat logs and not found sufficient evidence to prove that you are actually scammed...even if the chat logs indicated a communication problem. The GM that was assigned to it may have addressed the issue too literally.

I would put in another ticket and explain exactly what happened, without the accusation of being scammed or any other accusations or assumptions (stick to the facts). Be sure you state that it started with the other guy offering to use his scrolls to craft cards for you (he approached you first), you said yes and gave him inks. To me, that is enough of a verbal contract. Not trading the cards to you or mailing them to you constitutes a breach of that contract.
