    Selling Enchanting Rods

I've mentioned this in other places but feel the need to mention it again in its own thread. I've been selling rods for a while now and am making a decent amount of money out of them for very little effort.

Here's what I sell with materials and cost to produce:

    : 3 Arcanite Bar, 1 Dense Grinding Stone. COST:7g

    : 6 Fel Iron Bar. COST: 12g

    : 10 Adamantite Bar. COST: 15g

    : 4 Eternium Bar. COST: 4g

    : 2 Saronite Bar, 1Titanium Bar. COST: 11g

Titanium rods hover around 20g each so there's not a fortune to be made there, but the others sell daily at around 50g on the more populated alliance side and 80g on horde. I sell between 5 and 10 each day and make about 400g from the sales.

If you have an alchemist, don't forget to transmute your arcane crystals/thorium bars into arcanite bars if it's cheaper that way.

It may be cheaper for you to smelt the other bars in the list, but for me they are often cheaper to buy than the ores, so do some research.

Check the prices on your server - it could be worth your while.

This is one of those things i always forget to keep updated on my sales list. I normally make 12 of each rod, and then have them in my mail box for easy grabbing when one have sold. But once i run dry i often forget to resupply. Thanks for reminding me.

Edit: Don't forget about the , since mats can be expensive, few blacksmiths use this for skilling up.

This is one of the few things in blacksmithing I avoid completely. I made one eternium rod as a test and it took me 3 months to unload with little competition. My server has a fairly low horde population though, so on more high pop servers this should do well. Either way like Mornia said check the prices on your server and see if its worthwhile. Dont go crazy making 12 of each untill you know that there is enough demand for it.

Interesting that you say that Aeg - your experience is probably down to the low population like you say.

As I'm sure you know they are needed to level enchanting so there must be a demand for them and as lots of people level the profession in cataclysm, demand will surely rise.

Good advice though - if you're not sure, just make a couple and try it out. In fact. that's good advice when trying any new markets.

FYI, just noticed that there is a new vendor in Cata that will sell quite a few of these rod plans.

Do you think this will affect the markets? The plans were not difficult to acquire originally, if my memory serves me correctly, so it's not as if there'll be a lot of people who will enter the market because of this.

I dont think so. The plans are easy enough to get now and they are still pretty good priced. I sold an Eternium Rod for 150g last night.

Excellent sale! I think people are willing to pay high prices for these because they are a one off purchase and when they need them, they need them right away. I often see 3 or 4 rods sell to the same person as they power level their way through enchanting. I've never sold one for 150g though!

Adamantite rods have been selling for anywhere from 180g to 250g on my server, there's good money to be made there. People don't often think about making rods, and people who powerlevel enchanting often a) want their rod NOW and b) have massive funds, because enchanting is a rather expensive prof to level.
