    4.0.3a Inscription

    Brief heads up on 4.0.3a:

    * Jessica Sellers only trades for Blackfallow Ink (which can't even be produced).

    * [FIXED] Inscription vendors only sell Dust of Disappearance, not Vanishing Powder, even though nobody is 81+ yet, so everyone still needs Vanishing Powder.

    * And Glyph of Mage Armor finally becomes trainable, for anyone still enjoying that gambit.

4.0.3a may patch as early as next Tuesday - very hard to say: The thing is riddled with so many bugs there's no option for Blizzard to delay it until ready, so they may as well just get it out there.

The part in BOLD made me laugh. It's funny because its so true.

A few months ago, I met someone who worked QA for StarCraft 2, and hearing some of his stories made for good times over a beer.

Huge opportunity here - are they removing the IoTS trading? If so, might catch people slacking that were planning on using Blackfallow for trade-ins.

Only two weeks of overpriced glyphs in the AH!? They should have done this with 4.0.1, damn them!

So what I'm hearing is buy up a few hundred stacks of Vanishing Powder and watch the mass hysteria when people spam endlessly looking for scribes to make them powders with inks that can't be traded for and the answer is - "Go farm Bruiseweed and Strangekelp noob". I definitely like this development, this means that low-levels will be a definite market for powders in the future as they level and Patches adjust twinks.

If they removed it entirely, this was to keep a viable market for scribes. There's been mass QQ about Inscription becoming defunct and useless except for alts. I have empty tabs in my guild banks, I may as well see what happens. Lofty, ignore that last comment.

Secondly, buy up all the herbs you can and convert them to the various inks needed to make glyphs, that's if you are still in these markets. Ink of the Sea generated glyphs are going to absolutely tank in price. Yes Thorzek, this was the intention since Pre-Patch, to remove IotS trading and replace it with Blackfallow.

4.0.3a - When Vanishing Powder Vanished!

Anyone know what mats will be needed for Mage Armor? I'd like to trade for those inks now if I'm short.

It seems strange that they would put everyone in such a bind, but that won't stop me from picking some up in case they do.

    This I knew

Ink of the Sea generated glyphs are going to absolutely tank in price.
But this I didn't catch - nice call. Not being a very big glypher it was completely lost on me that there would be a bajillion people that don't change in for whatever reason - forgot, lazy, didn't get around to it, etc. This is going to create a huge glut of this particular ink. Rather than just be patient cause they'll evenutally use it all people will just start dumping glyphs.

I need to start thinking this through. I only have two bank tabs so not the worst thing in the world if I end up eating the inks - I'll use them on Rituals eventually - but if I can free some space up with fast movers I can clear up bank space for more stockpiling.

As European today will be the last day where i’ll be able to trade Inks in Dalaran. Like a lot of you “Glyphers” I have been busy crafting Ink of the Sea and trading them.

The last week I have really been working hard, and tried to get all heavy farmers to work for me (giving me loads of herbs, and a limited supply on the AH which means my competitors have been looking at herbs prices at 150-200% normal the last week).

I have 80-90 stacks of herbs in the mailbox I’ll mill and trade when I get home from work, and they will be added to the 5.600 Inks I have stockpiled.

If you look at the glyphs, and what inks you have to use to make these you’ll get these numbers:

Ink of the Sea 31 %
    Ethereal Ink 20 %
    Midnight Ink 13 %
    Shimmering Ink 6 %
    Celestial Ink 6 %
    Jadefire Ink 10 %
    Lion’s Ink 14 %

I have taken a strategy where I trade in ALL my Ink of the Sea. I think Northern Herbs will drop a little in price up untill cata launch, and I’ll pick up the herbs to make Ink of the Sea after launch of 4.0.3a

Without Ink of the Sea the distribution looks like this:

    Ethereal Ink 29 % (29%)
    Midnight Ink 19 % (21%)
    Shimmering Ink 8 % (7%)
    Celestial Ink 9 % (7%)
    Jadefire Ink 15 % (14%)
    Lion’s Ink 20 % (21%)

The second number (x%) is the one I have actually used, as I’m stockpiling in “blocks” of 14 inks:

    4 Ethereal Ink
    3 Midnight Ink
    1 Shimmering Ink
    1 Celestial Ink
    2 Jadefire Ink
    3 Lion’s Ink.

I have also added all the herbs for these “non ink of the sea” inks to my search in my AH addon, which means I buy the lower herbs if at or lower then my target price for Northern Herbs.

I have raised my threshold on glyphs to 25G (up from 15G). At the current market on my server im missing out on a lot of trades, but with a limited supply of lower herbs I think that will be a good deal in the long run – not like before where I literally had an unlimited supply of herbs which meant a more “sell anything with profit” strategy would apply.

A last thing I have made in preparation for 4.0.3a is to make a Spreadsheet of the glyphs, if they are prime, major or minor and the ink needed to make these.

It’s fast and easy to find like “all prime glyphs which isn’t made from Ink of the Sea” by making a search. (if you know how to use a spreadsheet ofc)

I have converted the raw-data into a “;” delimited txt-file you are welcome to download and use. (I’m sorry for the crappy place I have uploaded the file, but feel free upload it elsewhere)

    http://www.easy-share.com/1913063193/Glyphs4.0.1.txt

Now there is really only one thing to do: Cross my fingers and hope that my competitors haven’t prepared for the Ink vendor to go away to night.

There have been other new Glyph recipes added aside from Glyph of Mage Armor. This patch added one more from Book of Glyph Mastery and one each from Northrend Research and Minor Research.

Just in case anyone managed to miss them sneaking in
