Trade your IOTS! + Ink to Glyph Distribution Chart

So on the latest PTR build, Jessica Sellers, our beloved Ink Trader is now trading Blackfallow Ink instead of Ink of the Sea. We all knew this was coming eventually, though I think many of us only expected it to come in Cataclysm.

It's most likely that Blizzard will only make this change RIGHT before or AS Cataclysm is released, simply because they wouldn't make a change of requiring Blackfallow Ink before it is actually available ingame.

Even so, I would highly recommend that everyone starts milling and crafting (or if you not a scribe, simply buying it off the AH / getting someone to mill herbs for you) and turning those into the other inks available (Except for lol).

Something interesting is that I have been told, on the PTR the Blackfallow Ink to other Ink ratio is the same as with the Ink of the Sea to other ink ratio EXCEPT that apparently costs TEN Blackfallow Ink. I would appreciate it if anyone could confirm this.

Anyways, as many blogs and posts have recommended already, I will say it too. Convert your into other inks and stockup. When Cataclysm is released, all Ink prices are going to rocket sky-high due to the extremely high price of all herbs.

If you don't know how many of which Inks you should get, I recommend taking a look at this chart:

Ink of the Sea[/item]: 106 glyphs
    : 66 glyphs
    : 50 glyphs
    : 45 glyphs
    : 33 glyphs
    : 22 glyphs
    : 19 glyphs

Reducing this, and rounding up at .4 or above (cuz I'm generous like that), I believe we'd want the following distribution:

    : 6
    : 4
    : 3
    : 3
    : 2
    : 1
    : 1
Credits go to ericpeeg over at JMTC for the original Ink Ratio Chart. I just added the item links in.

Personally I'm going to be stocking up on the inks in factors of 100-200.

    600 - 1200
    400 - 800
    300 - 600
    300 - 600
    200 - 400
    100 - 200
    100 - 200

I might not even stock any Ink of the Sea at all, since hopefully many people will be simply dumping their Northrend herbs on the AH for VERY cheap.

I remember reading the achievement for knowing most (all?) your glyphs was not going to be implemented. Can anyone confirm this? If true does this change your outlook for a 2nd glyphmas?

Also instead of making glyphs and selling them what do people think of selling inks in lots of 3?

I'm pretty sure that change is 100% true.

Something to note is I think you and many people are misunderstanding what the second glyphmas will be and how / why it will be.
It's easy to say yes there are many players returning to wow and many players rerolling goblins / worgen. Something you need to remember is that most people who create a goblin or worgen will NOT be leveling them very quickly. Only a VERY small % of the population will be putting priority on leveling their gobline/worgen over their current level 80 Characters.

Most glyphs can only be learned at level 25, 55, 75, etc so there will NOT be any "huge increase of sales" like there was in 4.0.1. Sales will rise very slowly and will be almost unnoticeable.

I do suspect that there will be a slight initial burst of glyph purchases just before / just after Cataclysm is released for those tanks / healers wanting to switch to a neglected DPS spec to level, or those DPS wanting to switch to a neglected Tank / Healing spec to try get faster Dungeon queues. After that I suspect there will be a bit of a dip again in sales due to people racing to gear up their new 85s (they won't immediately start leveling their next alt to 85 etc).

I don't think the removal of the achievement will make much of a change either.

I plan on dumping a metric ton of ink onto the AH post 4.03a and beyond. My *sniff* Inscriptionist will probably be priority #3 to level to 82 after my farm toon and my JC/BS I may even level my Alch up from 70 to 82 first...

It was confirmed in a blue post early this week that the 20 Glyph achievement has been removed from the game. I don't see why they opted for that other than to piss off the scribes.

I actually didn't think it made much difference either way. The type of person who is going to go out of their way to have an achievement like that is the same person who doesn't want any gaps in their list of glyphs anyway. So, really it seems like all it accomplished was to keep a random achievement out of the hands of people who would have had it the moment it went live.

On a small pop server, like my own where only a few people make the glyphs for everyone, there is another big reason why a 2nd glyphmass is comming.
There wont be supply for low level herbs to make low level inks. Simple as that. During the next few weeks when people return and cataclysm comes closer. people level alts and glyph them and prepare them for cata.

I can not predict how a big server economy is, but I think you should see a difference there as well.
On my server, all the herbs and inks are of the AH at the moment. All of them. Glyphs are allready going to 250g and higher. And I have not manage to stock up to more then 6k inks.

There is simply no way that our few people can follow supply. We will need to have LOADS of low level herbs to even follow the supply comming the next weeks, and I dont see it happening.

Its not that the demand will be a lot higher, 2nd glyphmass, at least on my server, will be about the supply being a lot smaller.

I have noticed everyone seems to have forgotten to include in their trading which is used for .
If you have a large enough stockpile to last you into the expansion a decent stockpile of these are going to be very handy too, especially if you have an enchanter alt.
