    Bucking the trend: Flasks

Check out the prices of flask mats on your server. On mine, frost lotus regularly goes for 10g each and lichbloom at 30g a stack. The majority of people seem to have abandoned the flask market and are selling off stock.

This is a mistake in my opinion. Now, you can craft flasks with a cost price of about 11g but they are still selling at about 18-20g each for a lot of the time, especially endless rage. Profits are higher than they have been for a few months and competition is low. You can easily sell a few hundred a day if you post between 5-8pm and pay attention to undercutters, especially if you do so to both factions. 200 flasks a day - over 1000g profit.

I wouldn't craft a lot - in the past I've had over 1000 of each flask in stock. Just stick to a few hundred of each and don't flood the market. They will keep selling until a short time after cataclysm and then be worthless, so don't get too excited and buy up too many mats. If you're really nervous about it - just make 100 endless rage and frost wyrm and see how you go.

To add to this, I've seen a lot of discussion of people wanting to stock up on consumables to help their toons out until new consumables become available. Check for runescrolls, scrolls, drums, elixirs, health/mana pots and raw/cooked buff food supplies on your server. I wouldn't stock up on a lot, but it's worth consideration.

Unfortunately on my server, the mat prices are about right but flask prices are ridiculously low. Endless rage are usually <15g, frost wyrms are far less than 10g, with 6g being seen fairly often. Its been like this for months which is why I've avoided flasks like the plague (except when someone lists some stacks at 1.5g per flask )

This is what will happen. Everyone will leave the market, if they haven't already left, as players seem to think that the flask market is doomed. The reality is that when Cata hits, raiding consumables are going to skyrocket in price in the first couple of weeks as everyone wants to get into the new content. Nobody will have the new recipes, but everyone will want to access the new dungeons. Confusion will reign - flasks will sell like hotcakes and then after a while they'll become worthless as players gradually get the new recipes. The point is, even though they are selling at low prices now (although I'm still making 5g per flask and selling a lot) they will experience a boost in price early on in Cata. I'm keeping some in stock and am not selling them at the silly prices that I sometimes see.

At the wrath herb market's nadir, I was able to snatch up a bunch of frost lotuses for under 2g a pop. Even so, flask prices on my server have been so low (and the price of other herbs has held steady around 20g/stack) that I could only profitably sell them on Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Update: I'm still selling between 100 and 200 flasks a day but the market is much more volatile. Prices are down to 14g each with Pure Mojo sitting at 7g each (someone is liquidating stock I suspect.) Frost wyrm is at 20g each ally side so I'm making about 10g a flask with those - sold about 50 today. I'm sure they'll be back down to below 15 tomorrow. There's still profits to be made but for how much longer? I've still got over 1000 flasks in stock so we'll see.

Anyone else still selling flasks? They're going at over 20g on horde and ally sides and have been for a while now - I still sell lots every day - somewhere around 50-100. Why not switch to elixir mastery, make a few hundred and switch back to transmute right away? The cost of the mats to make a a flask of endless rage is about 8g on my server so I'm making 12g each. Not huge profits in this day and age I know but every little helps right?

If you're between level 65 and 75, this could be a nice little money maker while you level up.
