Thread: Looking Forward

    Looking Forward

I thought I would share something that I started doing this week. Looking forward to 4.2, the new Volatile market will shift from to . The Air market on my server hovers around 20g each, while the Fire market is real erratic between 13-20g each.

In 4.2 the top level profession gear will be made from Fire instead of Air. I believe this will tank air to around 13g and fire will briefly skyrocket and settle around 20-25g each.

I have started buying up all fire under 12g each and shifted my daily transmute to fire as well. If you have the money to go long in volatiles, I think we can make a killing the first few weeks of the patch.

p.s. If you have 5 minutes, go to Hyjal or Twilight Highlands and check the fire pools. 4-10 Volatile Fires shouldn't be passed up.

This has been mentioned a couple times already and I think there are a few people around that share your opinion. The one thing that worries me is the chance that a new source of volatile fire may be introduced to the game (this is the Firelands patch after all). I guess it's possible there could be something in-raid?

People can already loot volatiles from trash, but it won't be in a high enough volume to affect supply.

If any of you are already going to Hyjal for pools, make sure you fly North to Winterspring and do 2 things: 1) pick up your Winterspring Cub and start doing the daily quests (it takes longer to fly than to do the quests); 2) buy some wintersaber cubs from the vendor in the Everlook Inn to sell on the AH.

Depending on what's on the horizon, this reminds me a lot of Wrath; where Fire and Air were both high, but Fire had a slightly higher demand mostly due to Titansteel. I've been debating changing one of my daily xmutes to Fire anyway and I think it's time to finally make the move. I'm not going to fully convert to Fire, though, because Air certainly still has life in it (lol?).

Funny thing is I have been stockpiling air for this reason, assuming fire does go up and all you guys decide to switch to a fire xmute then air stops coming into the economy. Also if epic gems ever do come out and they are transmutable air goes up again. Way i see it is that the volatile transmute right now is the only thing supplying the market with Volatile airs.

This is exactly why I'm doing one fire xmute, and one air xmute, every day.

On a side note, I actually got a 17 fire / 11 fire proc from one xmute on my second newly-maxxed alchemy toon.... is there a first-time-use bonus on xmute elements?

It would be a nice thing to switch, though i doubt that it would be THIS useful, for some reasons:

    - Fire is VERY easy to farm while investing only couple of minutes every now and then
    - Truegold needs Fire AND Air and is part of some blacksmith-weapons in 4.2
    - most ppl will switch to Fire on the first few days since you're gonna need fire for almost everything, so supply on air is short - though you need it every day for truegold

I'll keep transmuting air on one toon and truegold on another one, sending the rest of air (since i only need 10 of 15-20 every day) to my tailor (30 air / week) and my engineer for the De-weaponized bla-pet.

If i would switch to fire, i would instantly run out of air, which i would have to buy for 18g each off the AH.

I would recommend sticking with air, because hopefully anyone who has an alchemist and wants to make themselves one of those BOEs, will then start doing transmute to fire to supply their own craft, increase of to air to supply the ah. So prices will hopefully go up (plus there will be people like recommended in this thread that switch to fire transmutes and again, air will go up from that too).

Aeg - always the contrarian! But rich doesn't come easy does it! ;-)

I am long on both Fire and Air, but I don't think it will be a dramatic increase for either. As Aeg already stated, I suspect the only supply of Air is coming from transmutes, which will change to fire.

One other thought is if Fire is only used in the new published gear, then sure it may increase. But, if it's also added to the mats of a new Titansteel Bar, then that is where we will see our huge increase. And in the off chance that AIR is used as part of a bar, watch out!

I believe that we will see a significant spike in the price. If the X-mute “rules” are the same in 4.2 a lot of Alchs will consider using the , as these also are needed for a lot of the new crafted gear.

I’m stocking up on at an average of around 15G atm. I’m also stocking up a little on . Both items will hopefully provide some nice profit, but imo. is an investment with a limited risk. If the prices don’t spike, I can always eliminate at prices close to cost.

My big gamble is still the . I’m aiming a stock around 1.000 stacks (got 400 atm), which is a +100.000G investment on my server. If we don’t see any Epic Gems from I’ll be taking a pretty big hit (already have +2.000 Rare gems in stock for the new JC gear – so prospected gems will more or less be vendored).

If you still get from prospecting when epic gems hits I foresee this market to crash a little on these.

I’m defiantly not the only one stocking on my server – so atm I’m holding back on crafting , as these require 4 and the second you see the introduction of Epic Gems the marked will be flooded with . I’m stocking to craft the other bars, but is around 10G on my faction, and I don’t thing it’s unrealistic that we will se a 50-80% reduction in that price (400-640G less cost per stack of ) when we see the introduction of Epic gems.

If epic gems show up in 4.2, I will unsub from all gold forums. That is how strongly I feel they will NOT show up.

I'm still debating buying Truegold to hold until the patch. I need to start watching its prices more.
