Skilling engineering -- any tricks to making it a wee bit more profitable?

I have decided to drop Skinning for Engineering on my shaman -- but don't quite feel like following tarou's or any other profession guide semi-blindly, so instead I have come here to ask any fellow engineer's if you've found anything decent to skill off of that wasn't plain vendor junk or such.

I am going to include any Jeeves-craftables (perhaps not profitable as such, but -- must have Jeeves!) and presumably the Pet Bombling and other pets whilst skilling, so that will be a couple of skill points to set aside, but other than those -- any brilliant ideas?

Do note I have all other professions maxed and plenty liquid to set aside for this.

A few things that are profitable (These are not in any order)
All pets, Fused Wiring, the flashlight hit trinket, SOME scopes, reagents for Jeeves, goblin BBQ, the products for the goblin/gnome specialisation quest (in precise amounts) and... Maybe the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor? Maybe.

Don't forget choppers. Never forget choppers.

Just found out the destroyer requires goblin engineering. Would dropping gnome eng. at lvl 300 effect the actually skill albeit minus gnome-only stuff? Thx

Also, though it would require a bit of gold investment to swap, you can learn both pets by changing your specialty via Narain Soothfancy.

I am quite interested in this, I thought that you will loose the goblin pattern when you switch to gnome ?

I think making pets is one of the main ways engineers make money. I remember people used to go crazy for mechanized squirrel back in TBCs.

Pet bombling, Lil' Smokey, Mechanical Squirrel are my biggest sellers in pets, also Mechanical toad and the Yeti, I used to own the Eng. pet market during Wrath but since Cata I've had some competition. The world destroyer and De-weaponized pet have some stiff competition. Do not overlook parts, I sell lots of Volatile blasting triggers, handful of fel iron bolts, handful of obsidium bolts and handful of cobalt bolts, they sell well and for good amounts. I sell the triggers and bolts for 6-15g EACH! I will list 12-15 and they usually all sell during the 48 hour posting. Been having some competition with these lately too, darn goblins! Also, when posting the Mechanical Squirrels buy up all of the Schematics: mechanical Squirrel, I usually find one or two listed every other day or so and some people will list them for cheap, I buy them ALL and re-post, I have found that the sweet spot for my server is between 25-30g. I could charge more but I sell quite a few each week and find that I can always replenish my stock. What's interesting is that I sell tons of schematics for the squirrel but I'm the only one actually selling the pet. Go figure.
