    The Decline of Netherweave Bags

Welp. It was a good run for me. After nearly three months of steady sales and fluctuating prices, it appears the bottom is finally falling out of NW bags. For the last week, bags haven't sold over 15g each and are currently in the 12-13g range. Cloth sits in the 8g/stack range and it's just not worth it for me to remain a major player.

Luckily, I've liquidated all of my backstock, and so I'm stuck with about 30 or so bags I'm going to slowly move, as I don't want to sell them for under 15g each. I'm not following the competition anymore as they drive the price ever lower.

I'll continue monitoring the market in case there is a rebound, but it's now taking me more energy than the returns I'm seeing.

Luckily, I'm putting time into my Tailor again and she hit 70 last night. Another week or two and she'll hit 75, and I can move solidly into Embersilk. I'm also going to start investigating class/profession bags, but since she's an alt, her rep levels are terribad.

All depends on your server, of course. On my Alliance server the bags have been 5g mats 8g bags for months now, while on my horde server it's 10g mats and 20g bags.

Yep. I know people like Stede were questioning the validity of the market for a while, mostly revolving it around the crafting time (even though it's AFK). I'm always curious what others are seeing, though.

I have yet to roll a horde alt on my server, but I'll likely do that within the next week. I'm not interested in arbitrage just yet, so much as I am just curious what the other side is seeing.

Bags are fluctuating still with vast price differences from day to day but they have on average been falling with the lowest levels dropping below 10g.

I'm still using up all my stock i bought in wrath though for below 3g a stack. I am still picking up stocks below that price too.

There's been a steady supply of cheap mats on my server for a while too and typically a 5g -> 15g markup, but it's not a great gold-per-hour moneymaker at this point given all the crafting and mailbox shuffling time. Demand has been less, but still definitely there.

The supply of cloth could go down if there are fewer people farming Kara after patch 4.1 nerfs the gold output in there.

That market has been declining ever since Cataclysm was released. After the huge influx of gold into the economy and more importantly: our pockets, 8g profit/sale just doesn't seem worth the (rather insane) crafting time.

It's never been anything other than a steady market on my server anyway, always regular supplies of cloth below 5g. Bag pricing pre-Cata was around 9-12g (didn't bother with it then, not enough return) and since Cata has been 18-24g. No signs of decline, but then we didnt really have a boom either, it was just that the bulk crafters seemed to do other things (like level). None of the current suppliers are the same as they were but maybe alts are involved so difficult to say really.

Anyway, at current pricing, I do an afk craft run every few days just to keep them ticking over, and sell one mail full (so 12 bags) each time I log my seller.

Does anyone have thoughts or evidence of an increase in sales of the due to the improved supply and reduced price of embersilk.? This may also impact the 16 slot market if poeple are splashing out a bit of the easily gained gold..? I always used to equip my Wrath alts with Frostweave bags not Netherweave ones as the gold flowed freely into my coffers and i knew they would want / need them eventually.

Embersilk Bags are still in the 350-380g range on my server. I'm following suit with Abyssal Bags, with maybe a 10g or so "discount". Frostweave is still relatively rare on my server, though, with cloth stacks regularly in the 60g+ range. I haven't check prices for the Embersilk cloth itself, just yet.

I checked this morning and about an hour ago, and the NW bag market dropped to nothing; so I've posted about 6-8 of what supplies I have left. I'm going to just keep an eye on this market and not keep the presence I was earlier. I'm hoping this is just a reset after a short-lived supply boom (or people leveling tailoring alts).
