    Abyssal Bags and their counterparts

I've been making Abyssal Bags in small batches of about 10-12 at a time, thanks to a guildie. I'll throw them on the AH in batches of 2-4 depending on my mood. It usually takes 2-3 relist cycles to sell them, but I'm okay with that. A lot of people still aren't aware that the bags are general use bags now.

I'll probably get scolded for this, but lately, someone has been posting them for close to 500g. Now, using my own internal logic, I know that Embersilk Bags and Abyssal Bags have the same number of slots. In the recent past, Embersilk Bags were close to 500g each, but they are down to around 345g each currently.

So, I've been posting slightly under Embersilk Bag prices. My reasoning is, if anyone searched for "bag" and just checked tooltips, they'd simply grab the Embersilk bags instead.

Considering the low sales volume, am I leaving money on the table by doing this, or am I actually driving sales my way by offering a bargain?

I'm picking up eternals and frozen orbs super cheap, so on average each Abyssal Bag costs me around 150-180g to make.

I want to make sure my reasoning is correct for this.

I think you are correct to post under the same size bags, rather than the same name, actually. I know if I am looking for bags, I go to the containers tab and search there.

I think your idea is sound. By posting against same size bags, your listings will be more visible to more people since some will sort their searchs by name and others by price.

I do similar with my herb bags, the 36 slot Hyjal herb bag costs around 400g to produce so rarely sells below 500g as people try to make a decent profit from their investment. I drop along with the 32 slot Emerald bag (costing around 120g in mats now) and post them at 380-440g. Better profit margin for me, sells nearly every day.

Ooh, I'll have to look into those (although my Tailor is only 66). At the least, I can try the Emerald bag.

On a side note, Mammoth Mining Bags are selling well for me and Borean Leather is still moderately priced. Frostweave gets expensive easily, so I've slowed down Abyssal Bag production.

If i remember correctly, the Emerald bag is a Kalu'ak recipe, so although its tailoring skill (435) is within your range at level 66, you wont be able to get the recipe until you get into Northrend and do the walrus grind.

Agree on the Mammoth mining bag, and dont forget the LW Trapper's pack (28slotter) also from Kalu'ak rep and 8 heavy borean to make. This is also a daily seller for me, clearly many skinners don't pair it up with LW. Both these bags generate me around 60-80g profit each sale.

I skipped a lot of Kalu'ak rep when I leveled the LW, so I may have to go back and do that (I'm doing the WotLK cooking daily for the Chef's Hat anyway).

Or I can be a scrub and run Cata Heroics with a Kalu'ak tabard. >.>

Did they change the Kalu'ak tabard so it grants rep?

Is there a Kalu'ak tabard? I don't remember there being one in Wrath and wowhead data does not show one. Servers are down so I can't check at the moment.
