    Leveling items like Elementium Rod

A lot of people are still leveling professions, and on my server I still se a lot of them dumping their items made from leveling.

One usefull item in particular I have seen is .

The rods are needed by enchanters, but they only need 1 so the demand isn't that big.
The BS only make this for the purpose of leveling through BS 475-485.

The materials needed to make the rod are 15 x , and i have been picking up the rod down to 20G each. Thats a pricetag of 1,33G per .

The are at around 9G on my server, which makes a crafted rod worth around 150G including tip. I have been picking these up for a couple of weeks now, and it has been very profitable. I don't sell a lot, but I do sell.

I just picked up 10 of them at 25-38G, and I have relisted 3 of them at 250G, and i'll keep undercutting down to around 100G where i stop selling, wait for the price to hit 25G again - and start over. (the fact that it's a "once in a lifetime" investement for enchanters makes it a really good item to overprice, since most people have no idea what items are needed to make it and at one time only 250G most don't care.

Right now i can't sell at the same speed as i pick them up - the demand just isen't there, but if I get 10 at average 30G i just need to sell 2 at 250G to profit, and in theory i can just trash the rest. The AH fee for 48 hours are only 72s, so it's an item I just wan't to keep "live" on the AH at all times.

This tip will not make you rich, but it's easy to maintain on a secondary banking toon (because of rods taking up 1 slot per item) and it's easy to profit from.

I also see a lot of enchants beening dumped on the AH but that need a closer study to se which are actually worth anything - but a lot of them are down to 5-10% of the cost.

    ---

Anyone have spoted other leveling dumpings?

I have been doing the same with enchant scrolls. Bought literally thousands of enchant scrolls at under 10g a piece, no cherrypicking in the process, anything below the said price and being a Cata enchant was mine. Currently their price is going anywhere between 20 and 200 gold, making a nice profit and it seems there is a demand for all of them to a certain degree.

Tried to do the same with Elementium rods, but unfortunately they still sell way under their craft price. I am very hesitant if I should buy more or not.

I made the decision to stay away from the elementium rods due to the fact that every blacksmith would make 5 of them guaranteed to level up. I felt there needed to be a 5 - 1 ratio of enchanters to blacksmiths and to move them very slowly would suck because they do not stack in bags.

It seems you are making money just with keeping the market higher. I am curious how many rods you have stocked up now and would be interested in hearing how this is going 1 year from now.

Like I wrote I have no problem with only selling 20% - 30% of the rod I pick up.

I agree that there in theory always will be an over supply , but if I remove these rods from the market I can create an "artificial natural market price", and get 6-10 times my cost for the rods. Even if I vendored 70% of the rods at 1G - I would still profit.

I'll keep a pretty big stock (not vendoring them), as my strategy is to use them to put pressure on the marketprice if there's a big supply (where there will be from time to time).

By posting bulks loads of rods, at extreamly low price, I can force the posters to repost at a prices, where i buy them out, and start over at 250G/rod or even higher. Its the good old heavy undercut glyphpricing all over again, with the risks involved in that strategy.

Like I said the tip will not make you rich, but if you can control the market with some degree of sucess it's easy profit. I have made 900G profit sofare, and I have 13 rods in stock, which i can vendor at 1G - I'll never sit on a 100 rod stock, I'll just vendor them - its a part of the strategy.

I think back at the beginning of the expansion I picked up a couple stacks of and for about 2g each. I'm not exactly sure which one hunters will be wanting these days, but when they're that low under mat price, I'm willing to take some.

See this thread for more discussion about rods. I'm selling them for 200g each at the moment.
