    Powerleveling lvl77-80

ATM am busy getting my 4th toon to level 80 before the Cata release. The second i hit level 77 im heading to Icecrown and grind the last levels with a "power leveling trick" i picked up a long time a go.

I did the same on my last toon, and its pretty effectice way to rush the last 3 levels.

The following is C/P from elsewhere:
    ----
This method of grinding can net you roughly 600,000XP/hour. This isn’t the best method in the world, but it’s fast, changes the pace of boring instance grinding/quest grinding and I personally like aerial vehicular combat.

    Pros:
Faster than average XP gain. (For me anyway)
Absolute minimal downtime. (talking 3-4 seconds here)
Available to both Horde and Alliance.

    Cons:
    It’s a grind.
You gain no loot. (Without taking a hit to your XP/hour ratio)
Requires Level 77 and a completion of a question chain.

The Quest Itself and what you need:

    [quest]No Fly Zone/[quest] - http://www.wowhead.com/quest=12815

This quest provides you with an item called “Bone Gryphon”
It’s a very fast mount and has a sprint type ability that makes you even faster.
Heirloom items. I would have not been able to net this XP gain without the two bonus XP heirloom items. Without them I would only be netting 480,000 xp an hour. Still decent but not as good.

    The Trick:
A lot of vehicles don’t yield XP to the player when they get a kill using it. The thing about this vehicle is it both yields XP and a lootable NPC body. This item that provides you with a Bone Gryphon flying mount can kill ONE mob and ONE mob only called theOnslaught Gryphon Rider.

Basically, this mount gives you the capability of absolutely obliterating the mobs. This is especially handy if you’re a melee class without a self heal.

    The Method:
Not very difficult here. Just run around with your bone gryphon shooting down every single gryphon rider you see. There are SO many of them that it is absolutely impossible to run out and if you end up in a place that doesn’t have any left, just use the vehicle mounts sprint ability and you can be in a populated area with tons of mob in seconds.

Now the problem is, you can’t loot the corpses. Well you can, but if you want to max your XP at 600,000/hour you’ll have to skip looting corpses. On top of that they’re a pain to loot since many times they’ll fall into the water or ontop of mobs that you cannot kill with your vehicle mount.

I hope this helps a few levelers out there. I know it’s not the most awesome method in the world, but it’s faster than what I know a lot of players are used to in terms of XP/hour wise.

    "An Extra Hint:
If someone out there, I know there is, is capable of creating a little autoit or macro or something that pushes the number “1″ automatically for you repeatedly, it will definitely cut down on the button mashing. All you’d have to do is fly around and point your gryphon in the right direction while the macro autospams its main attack. "

Just a hint: this is 100% a bannable offense. It's botting.

I agree, nice post but you're going to have to mash those buttons. I don't even run my n52te software when I'm logged in. If you're running Auto-It, hardware, or software that automates anything simulating keypresses you're playing with gasoline near a bonfire.

The idea of creating a script to mash a button, as others pointed out, is a bannable offense. Even the method itself is borderline exploiting.

We don't condone any hacks, botting or scamming on this site. Similarly, we don't associate with sites that promote such behavior (aka the source of the post).

I understand that you may have overlooked this when copy/pasting the post, but please try to be more careful next time.

I never support botting, cheating and are always careful about being on the right side of the rules all the time.!! (If you knew how much time I spend on becoming 100% sure that cross faction trading between 2 of your own accounts where not an offence you would believe me.)

To be honest I didn’t put much thought into the last comment in the post about making “1” pressing automatically. I would love one when cancelling / posting glyph auctions (it’s like 400 clicks every time) but I’ll never use one, as I know it’s against the rules and I don’t really want to get banned, or in other ways break the rules.

I have removed the pasted comment about automation, as I agree with your point. (Not the one about the method it self is borderline exploiting.)

I would venture a guess that the large majority of us know where the line for botting is.

At least myself, having put so much time and effort into the game, I'm always extra careful in my "questionable" activities.

Another thing that bothers me about this post.

Is this really such a good method? I gain higher xp/hour just by questing and doing the dungeon quests. This is offcourse with heirlooms but the poster also mentionned them.
Anyone has any insight on the best way to level from 70-80?

I dont even assume it is dungeon queuing.

I'd be interested to know how you gain more than 600K XP per hour as I'm going to be levelling a couple of toons to this point soon. It seems to me that 600K XP per hour is a really good amount, or am I missing something?

I have a mage and a dk I'm almost done leveling to 80 right now. I happened to be at this point in the ic questing that I was sent to the griffin quest and decided to try it out using my own fingers of course and no automated 1 pressing. One toon is a RAF so I don't have heirlooms on both of them. I found I got about 2k per kill on my dk and the killing was a bit faster than it would be if I was on the ground killing but not terribly so. I was going to try out bringing my mage on follow and see what the xp is for each of them on that.

One think I found with my dk and mage on follow is that when my dk mines, both get 4400 k XP on a saronite node.. a bit more than that on titanium and a little under 2k for cobalt. The cool thing is tho and this could be useful in leveling in cat for us is that when dk is flying solo the xp is the same so having 2 toons together doubles your collective xp on node gathering. I thought it would be reduced somehow like it is with mob killing but for now, it is not.

    *on edit...

the last 2 days I have been leveling, I havent been getting xp from node gathering on my following toon. Im not sure what happened. When I was leveling Shalozar basin, I could have sworn I was getting xp on both toons per node mined.

.... or perhaps in my leveling stupor, I was hallucinating.. lol

but the double xp is not working anymore

Well, I must admit it was my new druid gatherer I was levelling. Herbalism/mining combo.
I dont know if that has anything to do with it, but you get a lot of xp from mining/herbing while doing quests.

My main way off levelling was questing till I have all quests of a dungeon, do the dungeon, and then more questing till the next dungeon.
I did not follow a strict route but I used to level with zygor, so i might still follow his guiding subconciously.
