    Gold making competition

Was thinking maybe a gold making competition would be fun. Right now details are rough but heres what i was thinking.

You start a new character on a new server, a level 1 character. A sponsor (a goblin) will give you 1k gold to start. The competition is to see how long it takes you to get to 5k gold, starting with a blank slate, then write up a couple words what you did to make it. When its all done give your 1k gold back. Buy yourself some pets or whatever.

If there's any interest let me know.

Exactly. In that way described above, I turned 1,5k gold from Oozeling battle pet on the new realm (high pop), to 15k currently (and 5/7k in items on Ah).
Same way on another realm (also high pop), started from 1k gold (left from leveling with my Raf mate) to 40k (with 10k in items).

A couple years ago we did something here that was fun. I can't remember the details but I believe it was in two phases. Phase one you had to get from 10g to 250g, then phase 2 was 250g to 1k gold. Then you posted your creative methods. If I find the threads, I'll post the link.

I think the challenge would be in that there is a timetable that you have to abide too. Though flipping blues may be a solid long term strategy, it is only potentially profitable in the short turn.
I was giving it some thought at work today and maybe the best way of doing it would be for all the participants to start on the same server at the same time, then to compare totals after a certian timetable(3 day, a week etc.) I always hear about ah pvp, this would be a way to level the field.

With cross realm pets/mounts, there is even the potential for prizes.

    1K to 5K?

    On a Tuesday?

Including the hour it takes the mailbox to release your gold?

Probably best to see who can make the most within a specific time frame. That opens it up a bit more, otherwise there's a lot of dumb luck involved in who's flip sells fastest. That also let's you avoid the sponsor part. You may recall I gave myself a 30 day challenge last march starting with literally nothing and finished at 405k after 30 days. Maybe a 2 week challenge or something would be interesting. Starting during the holidays would be nice too since it would give us working slobs time to play. Without time off of work I would never have managed 405k.
