Appears to not be working as it should as I'm getting "page cannot be found" error.

Sigh, I don't really think it was a very clever idea to run two of the same kind of polls at the same time @Xsinthis.

You took the poll to "the next step" before my poll had even finished. Firstly people are unlikely to vote twice. They will see one wealth poll and vote, then see another one and be like "why should I vote again?". The two polls end up being in competition with each other now and it reduces the effectiveness of both.

Secondly what is the point in creating a public wealth survey? You know you are only going to get like 0.05% of the wow population to vote legitimately. The other 0.05% that might vote are going to be trolls and give you inaccurate figures. In the end you are going to get an extremely small % of all wow players to vote, and get values which you have no control over and have no way of knowing how close to being legitimate they are.

Regardless, once you have your statistics, what are you going to do with them? What will they be achieving?

My apologies I figured you were done with yours since you had posted what I assumed were final results. There have been some pretty wild results so far, wild enough to exclude without worry. I'm already over 200 responses and I hope I can collect more over the next few days to over power any liars, there isn't a reason for lying except for the reason of lying so I don't think the majority will troll.

Once I've collected enough data I'm going to be looking at average player wealths, wealth distribution, average wealth where people are part of certain communities etc.

I'd really appreciate some help getting this survey to the non-gold savvy players. Tell your friends and guildies about the survey, and help me keep the threads bumped!

Just broke 1000 results with the help of WoW Insider, still need some help on the final push, especially trying to reach those that wouldn't normally frequent sites. Also need help keeping the threads bumped, especially the EU one since I can't post there :P

This survey is interesting, essentially making the same realization that Tom Chilton stated several months back. There's a disparity on the servers in regards to wealth and that the gold on each server is wildly disproportionate. There are several areas of excellence within the game - Raiding, PvP, and Gold Making.

You touched on these in the survey. The reality has been for a very long time - the casual player base doesn't raid, they don't PvP, and they don't really go after the game's currency. They aren't enlightened to certain topics that we discuss here, and they get their information from roughly the same mainstream places (ever wonder why everyone goes into a particular market at once!?). Like when Boub posted the amateur version of the saronite shuffle back in Wrath along with the glyph game? Within a week the prices had collapsed because everyone was reading the same information. Of course the market corrected after that because the general public found out that it is actually a job to get the gold and takes consistency, others just got what they wanted out of it and quit.

The funny thing is that you don't need a ton of gold to actually do most things in the game, which is why people don't really bother. They get 5k in their pockets and that's good enough for them to survive. Gold sinks aren't really present so you tend to stack the gold up when you don't do anything really hardcore. Add to that they haven't really hit the breakpoint day yet - which is the day you get tired of being poor in the game and do something about it.

I'm glad to know there are so many casuals out there because without them, I wouldn't have a market for my goods. Thank goodness MMO-Champ and the various Gold Blogs are out there giving unoriginal and mostly small minded bits of information. It simply keeps more wealth in the correct hands and the competition out of the AH.

We definitely don't have the power to crater the entire economy, and that's also a good thing. I think that's why Blizzard really doesn't care too much about correcting inflation. If you look at a server's wealth in total, and then look at the millionaires running around, we're just big fish in the ponds. Try to corner a market and those little fish tend to keep you in check. The only time we make a real impact is when we control the most high end of items in the game. And even then there's still a check and balance system.
