Question Ebonsteel Belt Buckle Camper, help.

    Hi all.

A few weeks ago i decided to max out my Blacksmithing for the Belt Buckles, i then noticed as soon as i posted some i was undercut. No matter what time i posted 8am or eithen 1am i was still undercut by the same person. I noticed this person must be using the iphone auction option as he can undercut while not being in game. I then did some reading on how to deal with this type of camper and i read the thread "Critical goblins deep undercut" which is for glyphs but thought id try this out. I made 120 buckles (it cost me 60G per buckle) and the price for one was 200-230G so i went ahead and posted 5 at 120g that was undercut so i then went to 90G and again it was undercut so i went 80G, now i noticed i was not undercut and 10 minutes past so i decided to post 85 buckles at 80G each. 5 minutes later i noticed he purchased all my buckles and then reset the price to 160G per buckle. Now i decided to check out horde to see the market there as i would like to get some gold on the Horde side, it seems only 1 person is somewhat on top of the market there (i dont think it is the same person who is on Alliance side). So what do i do? Do i stock up on 400+ buckles and put a wall up at 99G per buckle? Do i just forget this market on Alliance side and test the waters on Horde?

    Thanks!

So long as you're making a profit I'd just keep crafting and listing and letting him buy all your stock. It sounds like it's almost a guaranteed sale. Also try listing 5 at 80, 5 at 90, 5 at 100, 5 at 110. To buy you out and reset the market he's going to have to spend a lot of money on your gear. He'll also have a 200 transaction limit if he's using the RAH.

If you're sure that he's using online AH, then he's easy to beat. You only have 200 transactions per day, then you can't post anything anymore.

Try to find out, which markets he's in. If you're sure that he's not online but posting auctions nevertheless, try to undercut all his auctions. No deep-undercutting, just by one silver. Do so for any item he has and count his postings. If he keeps on undercutting within a minute or so, he should run out of transactions pretty fast. Especially when he bought your 85 buckles - 85 / 200 transactions!

I don't really get the problem...

You just sold 90 s in one day with a profit of 20g and you are not happy?
1800g profit from belt buckles in one night is pretty nice. You need to keep on doing that and see how long he will keep giving you free gold
At this point you are entering a battle of attrition. Whoever gives up first or runs out of mats will lose. If you give up and allow him to sell all your 80g buckles at 160g then he wins, but if you can keep feeding him 80g buckles and don't allow him to sell, then you own the market and his stockpile just increases without any profit.

Thanks for the replies, im 100% sure he is using the remote AH to post sometimes. I checked him out on TUJ and he is only selling belt buckles. Nilaus: Yes im happy but im just wondering if it is the right thing to continue posting walls and letting him just buy them, i guess it is time to mass stock on Pyrite,Volatile earth etc .

Your only options are fight or flight. Both options should be considered as a valid response.
The easiest is to choose flight and get out of the market, but it can be really fun to mess with someone else i.e. AH PvP. To be honest I haven't really engaged in much of that on the selling side as I usually just leave a market if the competition gets too tough as it kills my GPH to fight.

Yes my main income is in JC and its no longer camped as much as it used to be so most of my gold is coming from that and thats what i use the Elementium Ore on, but i want to expand into other markets now. I have moved into the Scrolls market and that is going well, i will give it 1 last go with the buckles and if he buys them all out then i will move on, i could get alot more profit out of the ore via prospecting it. If he dont buy them out then i will just continue to flood the market untill i run out of buckles. I have around 150 buckles to play with. +rep to all of you and thanks for the help.

I'd like to disagree, @Nilaus . Sure, 20g as profit is still profit. But compared to the "long" way of manufacturing them it's "Buying ore => Smelting lots of Ore => Sending Ore (if BS is on another twink) => Producing EBB ==> Post / Repost". I don't think that 20g is worth it - though, Smelting and Creating EBB can be considered as Worth-Less (in the true meaning of the word) since you can go "Create All"-afk.

But that's only my point of view. Especially since i hit the gold cap, i tried to sort out auctions where the profit margin is too low. I'd only post them as "wall of death" against a competitor (did that when the most active AH-player on my server undercut me 10 seconds after i put up my EBB-auction, for 5 times). EBB were at 220g and he undercut me within 10 freakin' seconds. I know, rule 1: Never get emotional! Stay calm at all cost!. But... i just couldn't. So i posted a wall of 20 EBB at 130g (1xEBB is 60g for me, so LOTS of profit). He didn't undercut, so i guess he either thought he's not making too much profit anymore, or he had too high Ore prices.

Ok, then I want to agree with you @Thanateros

20g/buckle is not a lot when gold capped, but I assume that is not the case for the OP, but it is afk crafting and selling 90 at 20g profit is not bad at all.
I would personally leave the market in that case, but with a margin of 20g then it is easy to put up a fight for your share of the buckles market.

Hm... yeah, you're right, i didn't consider that the OP is only at its way to goldcap but only saw it from my point of view
