    Question Taking Advantage of Botting?

    Hi all!

I've noticed that, on my server, the price of cata-level herbs (and subsequently, ) has decreased immensely. I'm currently looking at 3-4g for and less than 30g a stack for , and sometimes .

There are thousands of each item on the AH, several hundred from a few specific names, so I suspect they're botting.

My question is - should I buy out some of the cheap stuff now? I can use it for cards or stockpiling ink for 4.2 relics and such, or use the to keep my fiancee's alchemist in transmutes up to her ears. Should I take advantage of low prices and either use the mats or save them for resell later? Or should I avoid giving gold to suspected botters?

Do you follow the names of those who flood the herb/ore markets and avoid buying from them? Or is it just a matter of buying out the cheapest mats for the most crafted profit?

I also posted about a similar thing some time ago Link.

What I did, is that I bought quite alot of stuff --> bought ~20'000 @70c/ea and produced inks out of it. I'm actually glad I did it. That guy is still online from time to time, but I managed to reset the market a little bit, and he's way less active atm

As low-lvl herbs are running low again, I'm happy to have those inks now

And yes, this guy is on my friendlist and I look at the realtime search each time he's on ^^

I think it comes down to personal preference. I once asked whether it was 'wrong' to buy from bots but, if you want to make gold, as a goblin, someone profit from it. 1-5 stack random joe or you, doesnt matter, it will be gone before the auction timer is up.

Wait. This wasn't a problem of conscience. Is it lower then the historical prices? Then yes, buy it.

Wait, no it was. refer to 1-5 stack joe.

If you don't profit off the botters then somebody else will. I buy whatever is cheap and leave policing the game to Blizzard.

True, it's not as though I'd be the only one buying herbs/ore. Thanks for your input, everyone.

And TraX, I thought I'd seen your thread before, but nothing came up when I tried to search. Thanks for linking!

I know of one new bot on my server. He's not at it 24/7, but he's on at least 12 hours a day farming in Uldum. (Herb/Mining) A buddy of mine has him on realid since he's a former raider and happened to also transfer to our new server. I've been monitoring him this past weekend and now need to figure out a strategy if possible to put his "services" to good use.

There appear to be a few botters/heavy farmers on my server. And to be frank I snap up most of what the ones doing ore sell. Whatever they farm is always going to be on the AH, or in someone else's pocket if you don't buy it. And the person that buys it may simply not care about whether it was bot farmed or not. Or they may infact be ignorant to that fact.

Either way, if someone else has it they have more power to sell cheaper than you can, which will severly limit your sales.

You should definitely try benefit from botters and farmers, like Traumatic said, if you don't do it someone else will.
Hell I even add the people who flood the market to my friends list so I can make personal deals with them.

Since Blizzard leaves the botter-farmed items in the game, consider it fair game to buy and use.

If you think about it, it's actually almost BETTER to buy from botters.

    Step 1: Botter farms herbs
    Step 2: Botter sells herbs
    Step 3: Botter gets gold
Step 4: Botter gets banned before he can do anything with gold.
Step 5: ??? Profit. Bunch of gold just got taken out of the economy and you are now fighting inflation one bot farmer at a time.
