    Just discovered something interesting...

So, I've started working on a master list of sorts, that will include all vendors in each zone that sell various limited/unlimited recipes, patterns, plans, formulas, etc. that can be re-sold on the AH for profit. It's going to take me a while to do this, but I will make it available once complete to anyone that wants it.

It will have filtering capabilities, to look at items by Zone, by Rarity, or by Item Type (i.e. Cooking, Enchanting, Leatherworking, etc.). Right now it includes worksheets for each continent (I've only just started with Kalimdor, so yea, it will take me awhile yet). It will include NPC name that sells it, what faction they are, their coordinates, and the cost of the item (not counting any faction discounts).

So, when done, I'll find a way to make it available to all here on The Consortium.

But anyway, I found something out pretty interesting while working on this.

Previously, it was noted that may no longer be available once Cata went live (I think I remember seeing a thread on here about that awhile ago, but not 100% sure).

Well, I found out that this pattern is still available. The NPC that sold it (Harlown Darkweave- Ashenvale 18,60) looks to no longer be a "vendor" upon finding and trying to interact with him, thus making the pattern unobtainable post-Shattering.

However, this is not actually the case.

If you head to 18,49 and talk to Benjari Edune, he will give you a quest ([quest]Three Friends of the Forest[/quest]). Upon completing that quest and the follow-up, Harlown can not be interacted with as a vendor, alowing you to buy the pattern. It is a limited supply pattern, but the respawn timer is not very long (reportedly under 16 minutes possibly).

(NOTE: This is only available to alliance.)

Few people know about this, based on what I've seen from looking at TUJ data. The recipe suprisingly doesn't sell for a ton, however I think there is an opportunity here to change that. I could see this pattern selling for 250g+ easily if no other competition tries to thwart that.

Just a little nice tidbit I thought I'd share with everyone. It surprised me when I found it... figured it might be a nice surprise to you as well.

Don't forget... this is Alliance only still. So could be even bigger profit opportunity by selling on Neutral AH or selling on Horde side.

The RecipeProfit addon would probably speed things up for you - either by extracting some of the info from the .lua files, or because it add an icon and tooltip to the world map. You might already be aware of it, but if not, check it out. The addon itself is actually quite helpful - there are so many vendors scattered all over the place, it's tough to remember all of them, and unless you go out intentionally looking for them, you probably wouldn't realize how many you pass right by on your regular travels.

For me, there have been many times when I've been looking at the map while flying along and noticed the icon nearby. One quick stop later, and it's probably one of the most subtle addons for making gold.

I actually didn't know about that one, so I'll definitely check it out.

To be honest though (and partly embarassed that I don't know this, being that I do some programming in VB & SQL languages), I don't know how to extract data from .lua files and make it readable/importable into Excel.

Also, partly doing this the manual/hard way because it's helping me discover new things that I wasn't previously aware of (like the Herbalist's Gloves pattern). That and I'm a bit bored at work... been slow the last few days. So this gives me something to do.

I didn't know about it until a few months (and one helpful consortium member ) ago. As far as extracting, I wasn't really thinking of anything fancy, just opening up the file in a text editor and seeing if there is anything useful in there. There might a list inside an array somewhere, or something like that. That was exactly how I grabbed the DE table out of the auctioneer files.

You'll want to be careful about how you phrase that. You can run afoul of policy if you knowingly mislead other players.

You'd be lying, since it clearly still is in the game.

There's really no need to say anything in trade chat about it. Check TUJ and if it hasn't been up on the AH on your server in quite a while, just put one up for 500g.

I ran out there on my lunch break today, did the 2 quests, and got the pattern. Put up on AH for 499g, since it hadn't been up for at least 2 weeks on my server.
