    paying to level a guild, need some feedback

    So i'm in a very tight knit guild of 6 players. unfortunately they are also very very inactive. 2 have 85s but i haven't seen them in a month, the other three have mains from level 20 to 68. my basic problem of getting to raid and pvp on steady arena teams and rated bgs isn't such a big deal. most know me as a capable pugger from back in naxx days.
    what i am now having an issue with is that guilds get some really nice perks. leveling my main and 2 alts plus doing dailys in tb has gotten us to level 2 (i have had some help from the guildies). but now i'm looking at things going there are real direct advantages to raiding, pvping, and the gold market. with upcoming patch changes with currencies being transferable and the direct guild perk of bountiful bags and such its very worth it for me to get my guild leveled.

    I'm not changing guilds, and to be honest we aren't opening up membership for the long run. what i was considering was paying a bunch of lowbies gold per guild level.
    I'm not 100% on how guild leveling goes and how else to gain guild experience to level but i do know if someone completes a quest the guild gets experience.
    i figure unguilded lowies will be leveling anyways so why not get some gold whenever the guild levels. obviously i'll be clear in stating that they can leave at anytime and when the guild is max level they will be removed as this is strictly a financial agreement.

    so anyone have some thoughts on it? maybe an amount per level? how to attract people? is this idea ridiculous? any other ideas to level a guild?

    You can check XP gained via the armory (guild activity dropdown). Probably need to pay per XP, and advertise in trade/general/word of mouth.

    You may want to check out http://greedygoblin.blogspot.com/
    That's a active guild not a inactive one, but if I remember correctly there's two hired mercs who get paid on their contributions.

    Your main problem is that you have inactive members.

    You can sort the ingame guild roster by guild Activity(weekly/total). In my mains guild, our top contributor has 48769170 "points" total .. I dont know if this is the XP s/he has gained for the guild or if its some other measure, but it could be a nice gauge as to what to pay per guild activity point. Our guild just dinged lvl23.

    If it were me, I would pay weekly to the top 5 contributors, instead of per activity point. Atm our top contributors have 1043k / 963k / 867k / 759k / 690k "points". Considering it would take ~5-7 months to reach top level, you have to decide how much gold you are willing to pay per week, and divide it amongst the top contributors.

    30-31 weeks to reach top level, lets say 30 to make it a nice round number. If you are willing to pay 45k gold for a top level guild, that means 1500g per week, divided among the top 5, means 300g each of them every week, making it a potential 9k gold income over the 7 months they are contributing. For some, this is a nice chunk of money, for others its not worth it.

    On my realm, I've seen guilds with a level of 11, being sold for 7k gold. Sadly I heard about it when I was about to go see a movie with my GF, and couldn't buy it. I've started my own lvl1 guild 3 weeks ago, and I've invited randomly guildless people through /who without whispering them or anything first. Only 40 have joined and stayed in the guild. Its only lvl1.25 atm, and by that I mean 25% on its way to level 2. The startup takes forever, so if you have a chance to buy a lvl5-10 guild, do so, and save alot of time. Even buying a lvl2 guild would be to prefer, cause the guild perk Fast Track would make it alot more attractive for people to stay in your guild.

    Hey Nightmare,

    I've considered doing something similar. See this link to breakdown how guild XP works.

    http://www.wowwiki.com/Guild_advancement

    My guess is that you''ll likely need to pay between 500-2000g per 1 Million XP. Let me tell you too, that if you're going to hire mercs, I'd recommend 70-85. The xp gains for quests below that are minimal. Other options include a guild group size of people willing to pvp or arena.

    The absolute best way tho is running a dungeon with guildies of 3+ or more. In this case you get xp for all kills in the dungeon, not just quests.

    I was going to give this a go after DMF week finished, I'll post to let you know my success/failure.

    here is a couple of quotes from http://greedygoblin.blogspot.com/ ; "every 500 guild XP you earn worth 1 gold" and "I paid 225K gold"
    Quote from http://www.wowwiki.com/Guild_advancement ; "the total number of days to get to level 25 is: 845,670,000/6,246,000 = ~135 days"

    845,670,000 xp total, at 1g per 500 xp = 1,691,340g
    845,670,000 xp total, at 1g per 2000 xp = 422,835g
    845,670,000 xp total, at 1g per 3750 xp = 225,512g

    If 845,670,000 xp is the total amount of xp you need to get to top level, how could greedygoblin only pay 225k total when he paid 1g per 500 xp? Some of this info must be wrong, but I dont know what part of it.

    He only paid from 23 to 25. Level 23 is when guild XP stops having a daily cap and you can just grind it.

    From the chart you've posted, it looks like he paid the 1g per 3750xp

    Ahh, so its only 53,070k + 54,730k = 107,800k -> 107,800k / 500 = 215k gold
    I see, thanks for clearing that up.

    Edit: Well.. in light of this info, I suppose we have a new timeline for how fast you can level a guild then;
    ( (845,670,000-107,800,000) / 6,246,000 ) + the amount of days it takes to grind the rest ~= 119 days + 107,800k xp

    1g per every 5000 xp will turn out to be 169k gold, since I am stingy, I would go for 1g per 5k xp

    I concur on this. I have a vanity guild I'm trying to get up over that Level 2 Fast Track hump and we have scads of lowbies grinding it (random invites all) but very few high level players, and progress is very slow. It is hardly an exaggeration to say that it would take 20 low-level players (level 1-40) to equal the experience of single player level 80-85.
