    What is your favorite market?

Mine used to be gems, but that is going into the toilet on my server. Which is your favorite?

I dabble in various areas, including Enchanting scrolls (for BOA and PvP twinks), Leather > Pristine Hide trades (then re-sell the Hides for profit), a little bit of Alchemy related processes, vendor bought recipes (sold for profit on AH), and just general buying low, re-selling for profit.

Premium item flipping. Nothing like buying something for 20k, listing it on AH endlessly for 2 weeks, and eventually getting 40k in your mailbox.

Inscription. I know it's crazy, and takes a lot of time, but I like putting a lot of effort into things for premium pay.

Lately I've really enjoyed crafting high-level jewelry. Getting 5k or more off a single sale is just cool. I've only really started doing this a few weeks ago. I've been thinking about some cross-faction stuff lately, too. As I dig deeper and deeper into the game, big ticket items just seem to give me more time to play the game than the Auction House.

I'd be really interested in hearing more about your premium item, Thorzek - seems like it would involve a bit more risk, as markets for stuff like that are small, and less predictable.
Retired - I blame Kathroman for everything.

    (that's a joke, eh)

I have to agree with Cokeroft, I enjoy the inscription market a great deal. making only about 70 of my glyphs, the rest i buy out and resell. And also Enchanting but old school scrolls and twink scrolls. They still sell for a bundle each and i'm never disappointed with the results. And then my snatch-list. I spend hours here getting the deals and flipping them.

Semi-risky, and definitely not for the feint of heart. Watching a 10k item decay to a 5k AH price can suck a little bit.

However, it's offset in the big picture. In the last 7 days I've done the following flips:
    - 15k buy, 40k sale (p) = 25k profit
    - 15k buy, 20k sale (ah) = 4k profit
    - 10k buy, 25k sale (ah) = 13.750 profit

So losing 5k on a bad flip? Aside from the fact it's 5freakingk, it's not a big deal. It's part of the risk you assume when playing with big toys. More often than not I'll just hold onto the thing like I am with this gd and if the market bounces back great, if not I'll give it to my DK or sell for 5k and write the other 5 off.

A - know your server prices. You misstep here a couple of times and you can set yourself back months.
B - have a backout plan. Here was mine as a warlock main:
    Buy for 15k
Do a dance at how uber I will be
    Sell for 30k
    Sadface
    Buy for 20k
    Excited
    Sell for 30k
    wth
    Buy for 9k
    wowza equip it fast!
    Sell for 25k
    fail!
    Buy for 12k
I still have this in my inventory I'm debating a main change to tanking because my guild needs me or else I'd have equipped this and the 8 other epics I have in my bags long ago, but you get the point - knowing I have the fallback "I cal always equip it" plan I'm far more confident in making an initial investment in a flip attempt.
C - Be patient. Don't drop your price. You're losing what 5g to a 24 hour deposit? And you're considering dropping the price by 1k? That 1k can pay for 200 days worth of failed auctions! Having your item on the AH for a long time will, if nothing else, get you some offers via mail or tells.

All kinds of things for me..

Gems - But all my gems come from prospecting and are sold uncut, spending the time to cut gems and try to sell them for days and days when I can prospect 2,000 ore and have all the green gems sold for 20-50g each within 2 days? No thanks.

Rare items, like Thorzek. I've flipped 2 for 10-15k profit each. for 12k profit.. When doing these just make sure to flip only raid drops or world drops, don't try to flip crafted items. You will always be undercut. Unless you get something for more than 5k under the normal market price, it's just not worth it. Too many crafters don't care about profit and will undercut ANYTHING.

Right now, most of my AH activity is volatile airs obtained using my daily Alchemy cooldown. I got extremely lucky with a triple-proc Truegold once, but I've been doing Living Elements ever since I did the math and found that my profit margins were higher this way, with volatiles staying relatively high and Truegold as low as 700g these days.

Oh, and I buy cheap Netherweave to turn into bags. I usually make double or triple my money that way, but on pretty small scales.
