    Darkmoon Rabbit

Recently had one come up for 30K (level 14) on my server and I am really considering buying it. I did write to the owner offering 25K and am hoping to hear back from him.

Guess my question is whether I should just pull the trigger as its a good price or are these going to drop in price with each fair that comes to town?

Only other thing to consider I guess is the number of pet collectors/battlers going up as the popularity of pets rises so will demand for some of these ultra-rare pets.

    Any and all feedback appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I honestly don't know as I guess i'm looking at it more from a collectors perspective and not so much as a great battle pet. I just know they require a raid group to get as well as being a spawn that is limited which all adds up to a very rare (from pet collecting perspective) item.

I'm guessing it will have increasing demand as more people get into collecting and battling but it could be so rare that most won't even care unless it has a great animation or is a superior battle pet. Guess that is where i am going with my question here. Does anyone feel it will become more desirable or just maintain/decrease due to it being to rare and or just not exciting enough to look at as well as an average battler?

I have read there is a better "breed" for battling but not really sure what the numbers are from one to another to even know the difference or if it's even that great of a battler regardless of breed.

Thanks for the response and i'll do some research on that.

P.S. I'm betting it holds at the 50K mark at minimum just because its rare and there are plenty of collectors that can't live without that one missing pet.

You have two potential markets for that pet: Those involved in pet battles, and those who enjoy collecting companion pets. As someone involved in both, this is just my opinion - so take it with a grain of salt, but I think you'll need to price your rabbit differently depending on which market you are appealing to.

If you are hoping to re-sell to battle pet enthusiasts, the breed matters. Darkmoon Rabbits come in three possible breed types that determine their final stat distribution. Briefly, these include B/B or "balanced" stats, H/S or Health/Speed stats, and S/S or Speed/Speed. For maximum price, the rabbit has to be S/S, though H/S would probably be acceptable. B/B is considered to be undesirable.

It has already been equipped and partly leveled by someone, so a simple addon from Curse will allow you to see its breed type. If I knew your server I'd be glad to toss an alt over there and check. If it is an S/S Darkmoon Rabbit, you can push for a pretty high price; depending on your server you should be able to get 50K for it, and serious battle pet collectors may be willing to work out a deal to put together a cross-server trade.

If it is not a breed type desired by battle pet collectors, I certainly wouldn't pay more than 15-20K for it, with the thought that I'd try to sell it to a companion pet collector for 20-25K. I think it may hold at that value for awhile with companion pet collectors simply because of its limited availability, though it would be a slow seller much as the Hyacinth Macaw used to be. Remember that the Darkmoon Faire comes every month, so that rabbit will be available every month. Again looking to the vanilla Hyacinth Macaw as a comparison, that pet had no guarantee of availability and sometimes you wouldn't see one on the AH for weeks at a time. The macaw held its value pretty consistently. The DM Rabbit is already starting to drop a bit.

Basically, if you don't know the breed, I wouldn't pay 25K for it unless the pet market on your server is very hot.

Others may disagree with me, so if I am off the mark here, please say so.

@Caitlyn nailed the response nicely. Breed is key for selling it at all to that half of the market. Pricing seems dead on as well.

I just wanted to add that if it is in fact a S/S breed look into the Pet Battle portion of the official forums, there are people specifically looking for those particular pets.
I recently traded one for 2 TCG Pets (Both low sadly) and a TCG mount as well (which I learned) however, I am sure you can flip things around more for greater effect.

Good luck, and Hope it's an S/S!!

Since it's H/S, you have an 'in between' dilemma - that rabbit is neither the best nor the worst breed, though as H/S you significantly decrease its marketability for the serious pet battle crowd. In your shoes, I'd approach the buyer, remind him that DMF is coming up and more rabbits will be available, point out that the one he has for sale is a breed that is not of interest to serious pet battle fans, and offer him 15K if it hasn't sold within the next week.

This is an interesting thread - I had NO IDEA there were different "breeds" of the same item. Was this a hidden "feature" that was discovered later by the pet aficionados?

Thank you all for the great feedback and great website link for reference to battle pets.

I'm finding the pet battles to be a very relaxed and enjoyable way to play this game in a totally new way.

    Thanks agian for the feedback.
