    help dealing with undercutter/camper

ive been in the jc market since mid wrath, made about 2.5m, but since MoP came out ive had this guy undercutting me, at first it was 1c undercuts, that was fine, but now he doing it like this: 80 - 75 - 70 - 65 - 60... by 5g each time, all the way down to around 30 - 35g. gems both cut and uncut have crashed from around 80/90g to 40-50g in the past week ... and Ghost Iron is still up at 40g a stack with no inbdication of coming down anytime soon.

this guy also seems to be on around 16 hours a day, always at the AH. a guildie of mine says he is a gold seller, but we have no proof of that.

any ideas what to do here guys?,

Call me crazy but if he is on constantly, I'm gonna guess that he is buying all the ore that gets posted under a certain amount. It could very well be 30g/stack and you would never know if he's sitting there with a realtime scan going at the AH. I do that when I'm afk processing ink and I've noticed herbs/ore crashing to pre-node nerf prices. Picked up a few hundred stacks below 30g/stack just this morning which is unthinkable on my realm.

Unfortunately the guy with the most time to camp is gonna win in the AH game so unless you can get a good supply going outside of the AH so that you can undercut him and stay profitable, he might effectively be booting you out of the market. Start posting "/2 WTB in bulk, pst" and try to set up long term bulk supply super cheap. Also start exploring other markets because you never ever want to rely on any particular market (for this exact reason).

Good luck!!! I hate people who ruin it for everyone.

    Agreed.

I noticed a guy that was getting into basically every market I'm in (Not hard to do when I post 10% of the auctions on there). But I knew immediately this guy was a potential threat to my empire with how I found myself being the one struggling to keep auctions toplisted. I later find out from talking to him that he posts on a second account as I do with 2 of my markets. I decided it was better to befriend this guy and share the profitable markets with him than stand back and do nothing. Besides, all my AH buddies either left the server or retired. I need someone else to dominate the world with.

Well, that's what you get when Blizzard does nothing against Farmbots. I reported several of them, but to no avail. So, in order to establish at least some kind of vertical ore monopoly in order to protect my gem and enchanting business, I had to reach into other markets as well (in order to get rid of excess ore), "destroying" them in the process.
I fail to see the source of your certainty.

I'm doing the same on my server. I've returned to making shoulder enchants to vendor just to try to keep herb and related prices up but I'm buying faster than I can mill, and I'm about ready to give up and let the bots ruin the markets. Play is starting to feel like work.

almost a universal phenomenon on most realms, unless the hackers are truly convinced yours is a ghost town

now is the time to buy, not sell
report them, wall the market off for zero profit and move on

but truthfully, even if you report them, they'll simply return under another account, so the best way is to destroy the market and sit tight - not many profitable markets nowadays

If you go too low in undercutting does he ever buy them out? If he is a bot and is constantly undercutting take advantage push the prices lower and get your stock from him instead of the overpriced Ghost Iron Ore. Add him to your friend list on all Chars and when he goes offline make sure to undercut immediately.
I too befriend my competitors, i have a guy who does way better than me in AH and all i had to do was start talking to him have a few laughs and now we have each other on the TSM whitelist so we never undercut and he shares his knowledge with me win, win. But if hes a bot like i said find out where the bot's thresholds lie and expose them.

how much gold do you have? You can do a couple of things...undercut him back and see how low he goes before he buys you out...then wall off right above that price. If he seems to go lower and lower with no floor (as some of my competitors do) just buy him out when he gets to a low enough price that you feel comfortable buying and reset the market, rise repeat. Or do some combination of that.

he hasnt bought me out for a while, i forced him to get his metas down to 200g bought them all out, then he bought me out @ 350g a gem and tried rasing the price, he couldnt cos i walled him off so he sold them at a loss
he never replies to any PSTs.

i havent found any floors with his prices yet, so far ive seen him go as low as 5g on blue/yellow/red cuts and 15-20 on purples, and sub 22g for green/orange

im undercutting him with what cuts i have left, but am selling more of them uncut now, and using his gems that i buy cheap to keep prices cheap so he cant profit from it

EDIT: my gold currently is a little over 2.5 Million
