    Exit strategy for Transmog?

Transmog gear doesn't sell on my server. I have everything set up the way I want it and over 700 good items. Sales were marginally better, but still not good before MoP and now they are just abysmal. It's not worth my time anymore to deal in the market. What's the best way to get out of the market short of DEing or just vendoring everything?

Haha. Yes. I had to choose a QUICK exit strategy recently when I decided to transfer to Caelestrasz.
I snagged all the "good" pieces and limited myself to half a guild bank tab.
If you're going to DE any of it, pick the crap pieces that have good DE mats, like infinite dust and whatnot. Avoid arcane dust, or any mat that's overly abundant on your AH.

Now, if you want to exit slowly, I would sort through your pieces and pick out stuff with good stats, not looks, and sell those. Keep in mind that a lot of toons might be alts who are using boa pieces, which may in turn slow sales on chest pieces legs, helms, etc. But there are still gloves, bracers, and boots, for the most part. Furthermore, legs are a fairly new addition to the BoA collection, so you may still have a pretty wide open market for that.

When you sell mog gear at a mog gear price, and mogging isn't very active right now due to people gearing up, then your sales are going to reflect against that low demand.
However, if you sell your pieces at a normal 'Im a poor noob with just the quest gold on hand and I need an upgrade' price, then you bypass the currently dull mog market and you then open up your pieces, due to lower prices, to a totally different audience. Now, it's just hoping that there are low level toons out there desiring the gear.
Again, if you take this approach, just sell the stuff with good stats. Scrap the rest (IE 2 stat pieces of gear or gear with bad stat combinations, such as strength and spirit on the same piece)

Hopefully you payed mere pennies for most of it, and selling it at a new price with a different consumer base in mind will still yield profit.

My exit strategy, however, was just to sell the entire guild with the leftovers in the vault.

You have two options that I can think of

Firesale everything. List it all real cheap so it'll sell.

Contact another transmog seller and offer to sell them your entire stash at a discount. I've had people do this with my transmog seller, and we both win on the deal.

Those were probably the best 2 options I could of also. Unfortunately I don't really think anyone else is a big transmog seller on my server (which makes me even more disappointed that the market sucks since I don't really have serious competition). There is 1 guy that I see on my scans, but he only posts a small fraction of what I do. As for the firesale any ideas on how to do it without screwing up all my old prices in TSM? Right now I have a ton of different price groups ranging from 399g all the way up to 10k in various increments along the way. I based all my prices around the old mog price guide on power word gold and it's taken me a lot of time to put every item into the right group. It's to the point now where I've seen and placed just about every single item on that list into the correct price group at this point and I don't want to destroy all that work in case I ever decide to enter the market again.

I always forget about using multiple profiles! That sounds like the best solution, thanks!

I have had a category with that name for ages. It contains all the stuff I can't bothered to micromanage that I pick up for resale. I got a good chuckle when I saw this part of the post.

How can I get the 2 profiles to play nice with each other? I made the firesale profile and put in all my transmog stuff for 25%-50% for wow auction region median and that works fine, however all the same transmog pieces are in my default profile along with a lot of other items that I don't want to sell at firesale prices. If I do a cancel/post scan under the default profile it thinks all my firesale stuff is way underpriced and cancels it to repost higher.

You might want to backup your TUJ info and then delete your old transmog auctioning groups to avoid this problem. This way you'll still have your groups for later should you decide to return.

Seeing as there are lots of pieces that are transmogrifiable and that many are unaware of which is which and if anything is held as valuable for said pursuit, I wonder if there would be an advantage gained by creating a character that posts Transmog auctions, with a name such as 'transmogsales' or similar so that the largely ignorant population might actually spend more than a second or two to examine said items whilst perusing the establishment, aka the auction house. I always go for the little mind games angle myself as it usually works.
I have perused the market myself and perhaps like your auction houses, it is pretty dead and requires much patience to get a sale but at this stage of an expansion pack, people are not interested in pimping their looks at all as they are still out there examining/chasing all the new gear. I would think Transmog will come back, but certainly towards the end of MOP so if you have the patience, the space and indeed enough money to not have to worry about your investment, it might be worth hanging on to the goodies for later sales. Having said that, the initial transmog craze will probably not be as big as before unless they change the dynamic, perhaps with the introduction of dyes and a higher degree of customisation on a piece which is arguably something not worth them pursuing, but I do think the dyes will come.
