    Rare Leatherworking Patterns

It seems that the value patterns/recipes/etc to flip are the ones that are rare world drops. So using the data provided by wowhead I have listed all the non-BoP leatherworking patterns from vanilla that are world drops with less the %1 of dropping.

Below are the 37 patterns I found, included with the pattern is the best source of it followed by percentage of drop and sample size. I know the Windtraders have their own list, it would interesting to hear how this list differs from yours.

    Enjoy!

Anyone find this list useful? I am kinda surprised there hasnt been any replies. Any glaring omissions? Any junk in the list?

I spent a little time yesterday trying to dive into the list and check values on TUJ. I found that some of the items seemed to be fairly rare while others seemed to be fairly common. For example, hasn't been seen on my server for 2 weeks and the last listed price was 650g. On the other hand some of the Big Voodoo items have been on the AH pretty consistently, never for more than 50g.

I didn't have time to dig in much further than that, especially since TUJ doesn't show prices on other servers right now.

It's actually a really great list mate, I checked out a few of them and most of them have never ever been seen on my server's Auction House since I started scanning, or only been seen once or twice.

I agree with calianna though, some of the items are very very rare and some of them seen rather common or under valued. I'm a bit confused why many of them don't have any comments about them on wowhead though (usually recipe collectors etc love talking about how much they need the damn recipe there ;P )

It's a very very useful list, I would recommend adding in a comment in the Items you should have on your Snatch list thread

One of my key moneymaking profession is Leatherworking, but from personal experience, I've never been able to sell low level items successfully.

While I can appreciate these recipes being valuable for collectors of recipes, I'm yet to see any value from learning the recipe itself.
Maybe that's unique to my realm, but only the level 80 items have been producing sales and profit.

I would definitely use items on this list, but more for "recipe resale" rather than craft and profits.

When I get a few minutes, I will start adding them to the list. If there are any that really do NOT belong, you guys can let me know here or there. Also, if someone would like to repeat this exercise for other professions, I would be happy to update for other profs too.

One thing I did realize after having a day or so to go over what I coded. I probably shouldn't count drops from bosses like [npc]14889[/npc] because these are rare spawns and their drop rates inflate the numbers. For example the best drop rate for is around 3% but that is from [npc]14889[/npc]. So when looking for items that have a less then %1 drop chance the spikes wouldnt make the list since is had a 3% drop. I have now accounted for that in my code.

Give me a percentage and I can produce a list for all the profession recipes. Using .1% (ie 0.001, 1/10%) I get a list of 63 items.

I think any of the old vanilla "limited supply" recipes would be valuable if they are being removed... But how do we know what's being removed?

63 items is manageable. What happens if you go with 1%?

I don't think anyone is in the business of crafting these things. Rare recipes are generally valuable for resale only.

Cool list, I somehow didn't see it until now.

As you pointed out, the highest drop rate is somewhat irrelevant. The most important criteria is "seen count". is a 25% drop rate, so it wouldn't qualify for these rare item lists. See what I mean?

Good work though, I'll have to check some of these out. I wish TUJ still showed cross-realm item availability.
