    AH war with stupid

It started out when I started in the glyph market. One guy can't cope with the fact that there is competition and is basically 'harrassing' anyone who undercuts him. I didn't mind much, at first though I thought he was rather annoying. At some point he became so rude I just put him on ignore. When he realized he didnt have the marked for himself he decided to tank almost every glyph to a 25-30 gold range. It's been 2 weeks for now, and I don't care much as I have so much other proffessions to make good use of. Keep posting glyphs btw so not giving in

But recently, my enchanting-scroll selling alt got undercut at just 1 heirloom enchant. When I started to undercut the undercutter, he started to say things like 'lol you'll be soon out of business, no sales for u tonight camper!' So instantly I knew it was the same guy on another bankeralt. It was getting worse, but decided not to put him on ignore but actually I had to lol so much about that guy being so hostile about just 1 lousy scroll. So it continues for 2-3 weeks or so. All of a sudden he posts another heirloom enchant to undercut me. Still no big deal, but he was instantly getting furious when I undercut him back. Seriously what is this guy thinking? He owns the ah? Got in tough with some other competitors he 'tormented' to ask if they know this guy and found out all of his other alts, rather nice to see if he's wiping..ehh raiding so I can post in peace those 2 stupid scrolls and some glyphs

This afternoon, I got a mail from his main banker (the glyph poster) called BUSTED!! In which he proudly announces he knew I was Moneybabe/honestface and he was going to keep the glyph marked depressed till the end of times and gonna crash every single marked I am in. Though I had a serious laugh at first, I mean.. I never made it a secret who my bankeralts are. I just log them one after another. Only my non-banking toons I rather keep a secret, but the rest I don't care. And he just made it sound like it was a major discovery of some sort. But then I started to think.. Should I take this serious. I know he has a enchanter lvl73, soon to be lvl75, if he decides to crash the enchanting market when he can do cata enchants I'm not going to be very pleased.

I decided to post a mail to his main (He didnt know prob. I know all of his alts myself so he's not going to like it I think I gave him a cockroach pet, told him: congrats for being such a great sherlock. Just have a little something for you to enjoy yourself and your guildies with when being carried..ehh progressing in raid. I think it suits you well. I hope you will get some progress soon now btw, so next time you're not lying, when yelling in the ah on your banktoon about what a great raider your main is.

Not sure if it was wise to do, I never answered any of his insults, but I really had to write something back this time.

But what's your advice on this. How do you deal with really stupid competitors? And any way you see how I can get rid of this guy?

Well it's obvious it doesn't take much to yank his chain and theres little hope of any compromise so you can either leave him to it and let him burn himself out or keep the pressure on.

If your making a profit from selling things i would play his game and undercut him into the ground (make sure you only post 1 item at a time to reduce posting costs). If he undercuts you to a none profitable amount then i would stop posting, he may think he won and will then probably start to raise the price again, then i would start undercutting him again. Make him know 2 can play his game and if he wants to mess around you can mess around just as much as him.

He's trying to intimidate you out of 'his' markets and the more you resist the more enraged he will become and the more you can back him into a corner and making things so bad for him that he will either see sence or give up.

For that to work though you need to see it to the end as it is a case of who give up first.

From reading your post here is what I've summarized:

    • It started out with glyphs - Inscription is probably the BEST profession out there for new players to learn how to AH and make gold seriously. It teaches them valuable lessons and strategies about making gold and dealing with competition while being an incredibly easy and actually low cost market to get into.

    • He moved onto enchanting, but only one at a time - Enchanting I would say is the next easiest profession market to move into, it has cheap relist fees and the mats are quite easy to obtain, you don't have to do dailies for tokens like JC etc. However enchanting is a completely different game to inscription and this guy realized it. He couldn't just swoop in and start on every single enchant, so he starts where the most publicity is; heirloom enchants. He starts one at a time, slowly spreading to other enchants as he becomes more confident.

    • You mentioned that the decided to tank the glyph market, this kind of resembles a newbie learning how to create a wall in order to force out competition. All the hostility and domination attempts also resemble him simply trying to intimidate you and force you out of the market.

I think the pet and message was a smart thing to do. It shows him that you aren't the average stupid wow player, and that you have the intellect to challenge and possible defeat him.

You can now go a couple of different ways:

    • Try befriend him, show him that you actually have some decent knowledge about making gold, ask him if he knows of this forum (though then you might be a bit busted with this strat :P ), discuss strategies with him etc. Do it in a way that it doesn't seem like you are trying to leech information off him but don't give away any secrets yet either.

    • Completely ignore him, be consistent in your posting and he will hopefully give up. Figure out his posting and playtime routines, and just get one step ahead of him by always reposting your items after he goes to bed or when he goes for lunch etc.

    • Wall him out, beat him at his own game.

Lastly if he refuses to stop insulting and harassing you, take screeshots every time he does so, build up a documentary of how he is continuously harassing you on different characters, being rude and generally making your playtime less enjoyable. Once you have a significant amount of evidence email it to Blizzard and they will sort it out - they really actually do sort those players out properly if you give them enough wealth of evidence against it.

My strategy for reporting harassment is email Blizzard first and ask them what to do about being harassed. This then gets you a response from an employee with a personal employee address like evanp.customersupport@blizzard.com or w/e instead of just customersupport@blizzard.com (not actually proper email addresses, I just made them up) - meaning you have initiated a personal relationship with them.
Then after that you email the support directly to Evan (or w/e their name is) and they are unable to then just give you a generic answer like "please use the ingame report and ignore function and we will deal with it accordingly" - because you are directly emailing them and they then cannot without a conscience simply blow you off - they will deal with it more seriously.

Interesting thing you've encountered, but in the world (of warcraft) where the only credible threat is the amount of gold in one's pocket I'd say don't worry about it. Just post/undercut as usual and as long as you have other markets the loser will be him eventually. You can always report him if he gets over the line to spam you.

Can you send him over to US-Zuluhed, I would like to have some fun with him. If he's getting aggressive with you, all bets are off, IMO, so here's a quick list of some things I would try, in no particular order:

    - COD him some of your slower selling glyphs every now and then at something like 500g each. Especially when you suspect he's likely to do a cancel/repost and interrupt his mail...
    - Make a toon with the same name as him with some special characters. Or something funny like "frankisabot", etc. It's all about the mind games.
    - If he has sent you some mail, make copies of the letter and send those back, with a small COD (little bit more than the postage price) You want it to be small enough that he will actually do it, out of intrigue. Once he realizes what he just paid for, you win - no matter how small the amount.
    - If you think he has you on ignore, whisper him from another alt or get a guildie to whisper him, saying something like "man, what did you do to piss that guy off, he's seriously flaming you in trade?". Curiosity will probably keep him right where you want him. It's all about the mind games, remember?
    - Just start flat out lying about your income. Make something up about how you just sold 2 of those enchants for double the price while he was "raiding" or something. Based on the information you provided, I would say it is a safe bet that this individual is very insecure and in need of attention. Make that work for you and it should be a fun ride. Did I mention the mind games? PvP doesn't always happen inside the AH...

Thanks for all the replies guys, you really put some effort in all of those tips, appreciate it and will sure use them.

What just happened: guy started flaming me in the ah again. I couldn't see it myself but I was told by a friend. He was pointing at me, and then yelling constantly GOLD SELLER, F*CKING GOLDSELLER PPL BEWARE for 5 minutes or so.. and then he logged of to one of his alts. Guess he didn't like the mail I sent him I asked my friend if he could make a screenie. I filled in a ticket right away, as I was mad as hell for being called a goldseller. So if I get to talk to one of the gm's I will tell them all my griefs about this guy. If he gets away with it, I have the screenshot and will start to collect more 'evidence' and send it to blizz by email as you suggested.

And for now I just continue doing what I do, and we'll see.. still isn't back on one of his bank toons so I really got him out of his usual routine

There's no way the person will be able to have every market that you are in saturated at all times. Just keep posting your crafts at a higher price than him so that when he sells out your crafts are there to be purchased. The seller's only wasting their time and energy trying to own highly volatile markets with a high sell through rate like scrolls and glyphs.

Wouldn't believe it.. I was afk at the mailbox and when I came back I got this whispered to me, from one of his alts:

    snapshot20.jpg

well if it's true, he's violating wow's rules, sharing an account But I guess he's just a schizo really. I made a follow up ticket as mine was already answered as I was offline for half an hour (like always). HOpe Ill speak to a gm soon.

No problem mate, at least you don't go around 'tipeng liek dees all da tiem!" :P

BTW your screenshot came out extremely extremely small. Can't read anything. Rather just paste the plain url link of the image or put it between [ img ] [ /img ] tags (if you are using http://imgur.com for your image uploads, use the 'direct link' url)
