Cataclysmically Delicious and Drown Your Sorrows Achievements Opportunities

With the addition of the [achievement]Cataclysmically Delicious[/achievement] & [achievement]Drown Your Sorrows[/achievement] achievements in 4.1, I have turned a small fortune flipping vendor food and drink at an obscene mark-up. Items such as and come from Edric Downing the Butcher, a vendor in Hyjal who is phased out unless you are on the Twilight Hammer quest chain. Check out the list of items required and get on the gravy train.

All the items sold by Grunka in Hyjal (same phase as Edric Downing) are sold by Zungam in Zul'Aman, who's chained up in a hut near the entrance of the lynx boss's area. Although the data's not on Wowhead yet, I assume Oily Giblets and Unidentifiable Meat Dish can be found somewhere else, maybe within ZG?

I'm curious about that myself. I'm going to hazard a guess that it's not though... due to the stealthed packs that roam along the path leading up to the Lynx boss. We had a rogue in our group last Wednesday when we ran ZA as a guild group, and he was stealthed along the path and was "seen" by the stealthed pat group.

Wonder if any of these would help though:

    -
    -
    -

Never tried any of those, so not sure if they would cause you to not be seen by mobs that can see through stealth or not.

I seem to remember certain pets/animals being able to see through stealth (cat, wolf come to mind). I know ZA has a lot of cat packs around Lynx; or at least it used to. I'm unsure if the game is set so that any stealthed mob can detect any stealthed character. This could be a fun challenge, though. If you can get creative with terrain effects and various items, you may be able to make it work.

It's a lot of effort though, and you'd probably be better off just remembering to stock up when you run through.

Conversely, if you can find a cleared instance (/who za; start whispering), you may be able to run in with an appropriately geared alt.

There are stealthed packs? If you're talking about the lynx packs that spawn as you're heading to the boss, you've gone too far. Zungam is literally in the hut right as you enter. Here is a general spot of the location; I'm not at home so I can't take screenshots, sorry!

Anyways, I did this on my rogue solo, had no issue whatsoever with aggroing anything except for the pack that spawns after you open the gate. The only tricky part was playing frogger with the trolls at the entrance that seem to roam around the staircase. None of the mobs I saw had the little blue circle that indicates they're able to see through stealth. I used Distract on the two big trolls that were standing in the way in front of the hut where Zungam was hiding but I think that was unnecessary. They aren't guarding the entrance to the hut but they're just standing outside "talking" to each other.

[e] I think the problem with invisibility potions is that you can't see anything around you (or that's how I remembered it) so you have to be really confident with how you move or else you may lose invisibility in front of a few angry trolls. And besides, you'll need to be invisible exactly twice (first pack and the two trolls in front of the hut) and the potion has an annoying 10 min cooldown

[e2] The NPC has a ball and chain attached to him but I didn't need to release him to get his goodies. Some Wowhead comments said that he'll move close enough to the two trolls so that you'll aggro them when you unstealth so it's a good idea to just let him stay chained up, buy his stuff, and leave.

Zungam is correct, I have yet to see the vendor in ZG. Edric Downing is so far the only NPC known to sell Oily Giblets and Unidentifiable Meat Dish. He damn well better stay that way, too!

just wanted to add that i have been selling a crap ton of Darkbrew Lager and Highland Spirits for 19-25g each. these take pennies to craft, so it's basically free money.

I haven't used an invis potion in ages, but mage invis has been changed - you can now see mobs, including those who can't see through invis. I've gone in on my mage to farm Mojo and was able to slip by the pack at the front door without issues. Perhaps this may apply to potions as well now, but you still have the CD to contend with.

I get this stuff from Hyjal, since I got bored with quests on my second character long before this achievement was an issue and randomly stopped while I was still in the right phase. You can get the zone achievement without finishing those quests too, which is nice. There are unfortunately others on my server who are selling these foods and underpricing them. On the bright side, I've sold Murky Water for 25g a piece multiple times, which blew my mind - I sit on nearly a million and I wouldn't spend 25g on a piece of food without looking it up first.
