    AH default sorting

Any one know how the default AH sorts items, im selling MFC's and i kept spamming but not selling. I was the cheapest poster, i was checking with auctionator, but i got to looking at the default setting and my competitors are showing first. i have played around whith prices, post times and stack sizes and still cant get my cards to the font of the line. very troublesome, worst part is im the only one spaming them, and ppl are whispering me telling me how many they bought, what they fliped ect.. I dont mind barking to sell my cards but to sell someone elses cards? no thank you. so does anyone know how i can get my cards to show first?

It sorts by price. If you are selling stacks of 2 that are more expensive overall then someone elses single stack then yours would be second.

I have noticed recently that the AH does not always by default show auctions in price order if there are more than a couple of pages especially.
A conspiracy theory i had was maybe this was an intentional design feature Blizzard implemented to circumvent a lot of the undercutting so people further down the list get to sell some of their auctions or maybe it's just a bug caused by one of my addons.

As Aeg mentioned it should by default show cheapest buyout first. If there are equal buyout listings then it goes in order of bid price for those equal listing. If both those are the same it generally lists in alphabetical order.
Even though this isn't happening for whatever reason this shouldn't have too much impact on sales as most people at least know how to search for a cheapest item on the AH.i.e. click the listing price tab, or use addons which automatically show auctions in buyout price anyway.

    This bit i don't understand

It seems to say people are buying your cards and then whispering you to tell you what they won? I am assuming their buying your cards as if they bought someone else's wouldn't they be whispering that person?

They whisper me because i am the only one talking them up in trade, they hope on the ah, buy what ever they see first, i guess they assume they are my cards

@Aeg, that is how i thought it worked as well, but i have a bid that is 5g cheaper and a buyout 2g cheaper, on single cards and im still not getting on the first couple of pages

I kinda have a solution, The other sellers have cards up at 12g, im selling mine at 10g, now when i bark i mention my cards are up for 10g (i dont normaly mention price), so ppl know to look, some ppl have even whispered me to say there were no 10g cards up, at that point i can tell them how to sort by price and i am back to moving cards

The default auction house sorts the auctions by the absolute value of the buyout, not the average value per item in the stack (addons like auctionator have that functionality, however). For example, if you have a 5-stack of on the AH for 10g per card, the absolute value of the stack is 50g. If someone is selling single cards, even if they're at 49.9999g, they will be listed before yours.

I'd recommend stop trying to undercut so far, and instead concentrate on undercutting each stack size separately (if there are cards up in stacks of 1, 2, 5, 10, and 39, make equal-sized stacks and undercut by a silver, or even a copper). This way, no matter what stack size people want to buy, your cards will be the first to go. This goes for practically any item that can be sold in stacks that you're trying to auction off.

PS: You can also list auctions at the -exact- value as your competition, and only undercut their bid price with your bid price, and your auctions will be listed first. So if someone's listing single cards for 15g buyout and a 15g bid, you can list yours with a 15g buyout and a 14.9999g bid and be ahead of them in an auction search, etc.

did you not read what i said, i had under cut on single cards, i was both cheaper on bid and buyout, and i cant get to the first pages, i have posted on other toons as well, and cant get to the front. Now i normaly undercut mildly, but i did more agressive undercuts to play around with the default ah pages. To see if i could find some kind of logic, as to what got you to the front. I couldnt figure it out, so i posted it here, for 2 reason's, one; maybe someone had ran across this bug and knew a way around it. two; to bring it to my fellow auctioneer's attention, because this may be affecting our sales. I have had some ppl buy my auctions in the past couple of months, i knew i wasnt the cheapest and i had to scratch my head, but now i think i know why.

I know i never use the default ah pages. But until i figure out this bug ill be checking on any high volume items i post

My bad on that one; I read it right, but I assumed I must have read it wrong because it sounded so strange.

I've come across this too but not in a negative way like you have, it increased my higher priced sales ^.^

I'm not sure what it is but multiple pages of items and no mods running you have to go to the next page and resort by buyout. Tell your customers to sort by seller instead and use a toon that starts with A or Z

You may want to contact Cold directly about this, as he's got a lot of experience with MFCs. You could also rewrite your barks to remind people to sort by price when they open the AH window.

I've been trying this out for the last couple of days, having the highest gems@48hrs and my regular posting and cancelling. I don't think it'd hurt at all to list a few at your fallback if for the sake of peace of mind, i've sold more then i expected(Accounting for 4.1 and all) at ludacris prices eg. 150g+ blue/yellow/green cuts whilst my undercuts are in the range of 15-35g.
