Question What's going on here? (mystery neutral AH poster)

I have a business partner in my goldmaking. The funny thing is, we've never met before in game. We've never even communicated in any way. In fact, my business partner is of the opposite faction (I play Horde and he plays Alliance). All of that being said, my business partner has made me thousands of gold.

Here's the way it's been working: for the past three months or so, at the same time each weekday afternoon, my business partner will post 6 auctions on my realm's neutral auction house. He lists, for 5g50s buyout:

The timing of this is always the same: the items get posted during the 4 o' clock hour, EST. If I am able to use the RAH during that time in the afternoon, I always make it a point to login and buyout each of his auctions.

I take those Alliance vendor pets to the Horde auction house, where I routinely sell them for 100-150g. They move quickly on the Horde AH, but if I ever develop a backlog of unsold pets I drop the price a bit more just to move them since I know there will be more inventory coming to me from my business partner in the future.

I have a very obvious question about all this. Specifically, I'd like to know "WHAT IS GOING ON?" Why is a complete stranger supplying me with relatively cheap pets across the Neutral AH each and every day? Is he a bot? I almost find it impossible to believe that he could be a real human, since I am not exaggerating when I say he works like clockwork.

Why hasn't he raised his prices? He knows that I or somebody else will always buy his auctions at 5g50s every day, yet he has not budged from that price point. Considering I sell them at a 25x markup I would continue to buy them if he posted at 10g, or even higher, but he hasn't changed his pricing. And he only ever posts one of each item per day. Never two. Always all six pets.

Here is his TUJ page, if that can help anybody make any sense of this behavior: http://theunderminejournal.com/selle...ller=Zambamwar

Not all days are reflected in his post activity grid, I have to guess because many days I'm expecting his auctions and buy them out before TUJ is able to record that they were even posted. What makes it so weird is that he really posts these every day and it has been going on for months.

If I ever met my business partner IRL I'd have to buy him a drink. That being said, I'm afraid to reach out to him in game to try and get any information from him diredctly. I feel like the farmer who doesn't want to kill the goose who lays him the golden eggs.

Does anybody have any idea what is going on or any kind of explanation for this behavior?

my guess is that he's found a niche market with a dedicated buyer, he's keeping prices steady to keep income flowing in. a steady pace of income is better than non at all.

If he were to post, this is about what it might say...

I have a business partner in my goldmaking. The funny thing is, we've never met before in game. We've never even communicated in any way. In fact, my business partner is of the opposite faction (I play Alliance and he plays Horde). All of that being said, my business partner has made me hundreds of gold.

Here's the way it's been working: about three+ months ago, I got tired of getting undercut on Alliance pets so on a whim I put them on the neutral AH. After a couple days, they were all bought by the same person. I posted again next day, same guy. I post at the same time (when I get home from work) and within a few hours, he buys them all again.

I'm guessing he's flipping them, but I'm making 20-30g for a few seconds of work each day. I might be able to raise the price some, but see no reason to mess with a successful formula.

So I did a bit of searching around. It seems this guy has characters on at least 5 different servers with recognizable patterns.

First pattern: he seems to use a combination of "zambam" and a class descriptor (i.e. zambamwar - warrior, zambamlock - warlock, etc.)
    - This pattern manifests itself on five different servers, three being guilded (see below)

Second pattern: he has the same guild name "is Hooked on WoWCrack" on three different servers (Maiev: wowarmory link, Anu'barak: wowarmory link, and Dalvengyr: wowarmory link)
    - Interestingly enough, each guild has exactly 10 members that all have the same "zambam" prefix.
    - In each guild, his mage (zambammage) is the guild master.

Third pattern: on each server that he has the "is Hooked on WoWCrack" guild, he has one toon that appears on TUJ, and each one is listing the same (or faction equivalent) vendor pets you noticed, plus a few other items.
    - TUJ links here, here, and here.

Fourth pattern: all three of his TUJ records indicate he usually posts around the same time (around 4PM) and about the same items almost everyday. And sometimes similar prices.

The fourth server that he appears to have characters on (with multiple "zamba" prefix names) is Caelestrasz, but they are not in a guild. One of the characters appeared on TUJ (link) but there is no history within the past two weeks.

The fifth one, he has only a DK, and no auction history. Probably irrelevant.

Then there are quite a few low level "Zamba" named characters on various servers, and a few higher level ones. I wasn't able to find any connections, auction histories or relationships with current found patterns for those characters.

    Interesting...

Maybe he is multiboxing 5 accounts, and does the same AHing on every server at the same times? Multiboxing is legal last time I checked, frowned upon, but legal, unfortunatly. I hate meeting them in PvP. Fun meeting them in Arena though.. This sounds very weird indeed. He must be truely hooked if he have to get his kicks by multiplying everything like that.
Every friday I post some statistics on what/how much I've sold the last week; MySales Weekly Statistics

Who's frowning? Certainly not Blizzard, they love 5x subscriptions and expansions

That said, from the information provided, I'm not really seeing a multiboxer.

Mutliboxing is the best! I box 2 accounts, makes levelling faster and at the end I have 2 x level 85's instead of one. Considering I have every profession in the game, there is no way I could possibly level those toons one by one.

The naming convention you describe is common with multi boxing but the whole setup is just plain strange and so is the posting activity

By the way if you were working for Blizzard I think bots in this game would be gone in about a week, talk about investigation skills.

Have you ever thought of simply trying to talk to him? Make a char on his faction and see what he is up to by trying to talk to him
