    Angry Shenanigans!

So I've been fighting this "guy" in the glyph market the last couple weeks. He always undercuts me within 10 minutes of me posting, he never appears online, yada yada yada. I've heard this complaint from a couple different people on other servers. He uses 4 characters, all level 1, all filled with alt code characters (a quick ctrl C - Ctrl V from TuJ got them on my friends list) and each character he uses is delegated to 3 classes for the glyphs. I've watched for 2 weeks now and NEVER saw them online to undercut me one single time.

Fast forward to today, I decided "screw this, I'm gonna make a ticket. he must be doing something underhanded." back to TuJ for more copy and pasting of their names into my ticket, I basically tried to word it as though I wasn't sure how he was doing what he was doing.

Submit my ticket, and the little flag appears saying "wait time: 6h 20min." yeah whatever, I'm off to work, I'll see their lame excuse when I get home tonight. Repost my glyphs one more time (I'm a small fry, think I've only got 10k worth of auctions up at the moment). I head to the bank for some final sorting, and what to my wondering eyes should appear? 2 of the glyphers log in. level 1s in their own guild, they start undercutting me immediately. They finish, log off and the other two log in. Ok, so the guy's got two accounts to sort it all out with. They finish and all but one bails offline.

Wow, there they are. how did they... what? My ticket was answered? Inside of 3 minutes? What is this? Everquest? I should have copied it to post here, but in my incredulity, I clicked it "as read" and blew off the survey. It basically said "i'm a new GM and I'll be keeping an eye on these guys for you! have a swell day! derp a derp!"

Are these dudes in the GM's pocket? Of course, I'm a conspiracy theorist, so naturally, everyone is plotting to steal my gold.

It was all too coordinated in my mind.

The hunter is still online, undoubtedly staring at my name on his friends list, waiting for me to try to repost again.

Without actually being there and going on what information you have given it simply sounds like an organised goblin likely with the RAH. I would venture to say he simply used all his posting allowance and then would log on to post once that was used up.

If he's undercutting all the time without being online as you say, how many auctions was he posting at a time and how often was this happening, or more specifically how many times a day as the RAH has a built in posting limit. Having two accounts would (as far as i know) double this limit which could keep him going for longer.

I was just pointing out i had never seen any of them online before, not once. Then within 5 minutes of me opening a ticket, they all log in and i get an immediate gm response.

That does sound a little fishy to me. On the one hand, as Fluffy was stating, he could be using RAH to repost glyphs and that would account for never appearing online. On the other hand, the fact he just happened to log on shortly after you submitted a ticket AND you got a GM response immediately after, that is a little suspect to me too. I've never had a GM respond that fast to me, even back when the response times were under an hour (which was rare even then).

Slightly off-topic but I think it is worth saying: sometimes when I'm at work and don't have much to do (or, regrettably, even sometimes when I do have work to do) I'll nurse my auctions with the RAH similar to how it sounds like this guy is doing it.

Sometimes I'll think to myself that my own behavior is probably, to an outsider, indistinguishable from a bot, and my competitors must be cursing at me right now because they think I'm botting, even though I'm not.

So I guess my point is, its not always a bot on the other end, even though it may seem like it is. It might just be a bored guy at work protecting his favorite markets with the RAH.

It doesn't seem like the RAH is a feasible way to work in the glyph market. There are just too many auctions to post and too much turnover. If it was a bot watching the glyph markets to cancel/repost, I would think you would be out of auctions in less than 1hr.

I've had gm's respond pretty quickly recently, but never within minutes. Maybe like half an hour at the fastest?

Definatly seems odd. Though I don't know how he would specifically be able to find your ticket so fast.

i had something similar to this going on with Gems, after i put in a ticket and got the copy paste response the person is now signed in all day undercutting everyone instead of botting thru the RAH.

I doubt it. I really think you're just being paranoid about a something that was a coincidence. I don't know what the deal is with the "guy" or if he's botting or not, but I highly doubt the GMs are involved.

Personally, I've had GMs respond withing minutes of opening with a ticket. It's a job like any other: sometimes, for no good reason whatsever, there's a slump in activity, so you get an immediate answer. I can understand it seems suspicious (and I admit that RAH is no way to keep a firm grip on the glyph market) but I wouldn't jump to conclusions from just that.
