Just can't seem to make any G

    Hey all,

First post here, but have been reading the tips and thought it was about time to post something.
My 2 maxed profs are JC and Enchanting (as it seems are everyone elses).

I have been stuck at around 7k gold for a long time, so have finally decided to seek advise.

My problem is that I'm currently doing the Obsidium shuffle and while the DE'ing of the rings etc is going ok, most of my scrolls dont sell - do you list these for 48hrs?

Also my rare gems about 60% of them seem to expire after 24hrs. Is this just the timing when i list them and is there anything i can do to shift these? A whole bank alt full of rare gems sucks.

Thanks for any info you can offer.

    Hey,

For your rare gems here is what I currently do and works quite well:

    - Post for 12h instead of 24h. Undercutting is very harsh on my server so I am always undercut within a few minutes or hours
    - Try to post popular gems (www.wowpopular.com)
    - Try to post gems at peak hours : 18h30 - 20h30 and midnight

Even if the market is over populated with JC, you can still make a decent amount of money (2-3k profit / day only with rare)

First of all, you've definitely come to the right place, there is a great community here that would be more than happy to try and help you get over that hump.

Regarding your scrolls, can you offer any more insight into why they aren't selling? If it's because of heavy competition, have you tried unloading the raw mats instead? They might not have as high a profit margin, but at your level of gold, you run the risk of having all your gold tied up in the scrolls which will prevent you from continuing to shuffle. If not, can you give us some idea of what scrolls you are trying to sell?

I sold tons of scrolls in wrath, but in cata they are often waaaaay undervalued for anything that would sell regularly. I agree w/ Kathroman's sentiment about pushing raw stocks. It's the only way I can personally push enough out the door to keep up with the ore.

For the rare gems, if you're on a high pop server you will be undercut in 5-60 minutes, that much is almost guaranteed. So posting for 24 hours just means you're paying heftier deposit fees. Drop it to 12 hours and, if it's possible, you will also see a much nicer return if you can babysit the sales for an hour or three during peak times. With a bank tab full of gems, just repost a few times instead of cancelling/reposting.

First of all welcome to the community, you're in the right hands!

Both enchanting and jewelcrafting are liquid professions, I'm surprised you're not seeing much ROI. What scrolls are you selling? I'm seeing huge profits in enchanting. Have you checked out this thread?

Do you just put the scrolls up for certain time and just leave them up until they expire? My scrolls sell really well because I cancel, repost and undercut probably several times a day. Once in the morning before I go to work and several times in the evening and once before bed. There is no reason not to cancel/repost if you get undercut by 20 scrolls with a 1g difference, etc. But if you just leave them there, those 20 scrolls will sell and yours won't. And then someone else comes along and undercuts those, now yours have even less of a chance of selling. Cancel and repost! I do the same with gems. Of course it costs more to cancel and repost gems, but the difference in the volume of sales by doing that, makes up for the increased cost of cancel and reposting.

As you stated that your gems expire after 24 hrs i'm wondering if you actually check to see if anyone has undercut you?
You should allways aim to be cheaper then your competition (by regularly checking your auctions, not babysit them), if you post your gems and 5 mins later someone else posts them cheaper yours wont sell untill all the cheaper gems have sold.

As been stated above set your duration to 12 hrs.
    What addons are you using?
Wich scrolls are you selling and do you check for undercuts aswell?
Maybe give us a little insight in how you handle your auctions after you posted them.

As Sterling said, which enchant scrolls are you trying to sell?

From my own experience, many of the Cata enchants are difficult to sell as a scroll right now, due to all the players still leveling up enchanting. The enchants that are done to level enchanting are typically sold on the AH for well under the cost of mats... I avoid those ones, as there is no profits to be had right now. I've found that more profits can be made from pre-Cata enchants.

Are you selling any of these scrolls?

    Vanilla Enchants

(if you can get ahold of the formula for this one)

    BC Enchants

    Wrath Enchants

    Cata Enchants

There are others that could be added to the list as well, but the above are the ones I hit pretty heavily and profit quite a bit from. This market, while very profitable, can also be pretty competitive. Some scrolls have more competitors than others. It can involve a good bit of auction re-listing to keep your scrolls at the top of the list (lowest in price) and constantly bringing in sales. But in nearly every case, the cost of the mats is less than 50% of the price of a scroll. In some cases, the cost of the mats is under 20% of the price of a scroll. Don't be afraid to undercut other people again and again, but even 1 silver. If other players aren't dedicated to it like you are, they may stop bothering with it and that equals less competition to you. Even if you have to sell some scrolls for a bit less than you want, selling means you are still making a profit. Higher volume sales at lower prices can many times mean more profits for you than selling at low volumes and higher prices.

To add to DrrWho's list, I am having success with many of those he has posted & also the following:

As a JC you can make which when disenchanted yields a these you can sell raw, or else use for BoA enchants. In regards to the shuffle, it's often best to concentrate on selling the enchanting mats rather than the scrolls.

Thanks for all the great info guys, definitely let you know how it turns out.

Just a little more info, when creating scrolls do you just buy the mats from the AH and then leave the shuffle mats to sell raw on the AH?

    Thanks again all
