Tailoring/JC + enchanting. Good way to make gold

So thats what i have been experiencing.

WARNING: These are only profitable if there is demand for highest level vanilla enchanting mats. (mostly these have low supply)

    Tailoring:

I usually buy runecloths for 75s-1g each or less, depending on day or how much i have in stock.

    Link: http://www.wowhead.com/item=13866
    De table: http://www.wowhead.com/item=13866#disenchanting

Another one is for Vision dust, which goes for nice price atleast on my server, and other recipies arent worth of making since cost on the mats overides the enchanting mats selling price.

I usually buy mageweave for 50s-75s each.

    Link: http://www.wowhead.com/item=10008
    De table: http://www.wowhead.com/item=10008#disenchanting

Vision dusts go for 10-20g each on my server, but demand isnt high as illusion dust + greater eternals. If you are able to snatch this pattern for cheap (see link below) you should be able to squeeze nice profits out of this (since mats are so easy with just 1 bolt of mageweave)

    Link: http://www.wowhead.com/item=10301

    JC:

With JC i do thorium shuffle (when thorium is less than 1g each) for three different gems, one is filler which i dont need.

    Thorium prospecting table: http://www.wowhead.com/item=10620#prospecting

Now i make bars from some of the thorium and make thorium settings from them.
    Link: http://www.wowhead.com/item=21752

Now as last i use three of the most common gems prospected from thorium (+ i need essence of undeath in one recipe which can be usually found cheap when you check often, though problem with it is there isnt much supply so you need to be ready to snatch it)

    I use these three recipes

    Link: http://www.wowhead.com/item=21790
    De table: http://www.wowhead.com/item=21790#disenchanting

    Link: http://www.wowhead.com/item=29159
    De table: http://www.wowhead.com/item=29159#disenchanting

    Link: http://www.wowhead.com/item=29160
    De table: http://www.wowhead.com/item=29160#disenchanting

So this is one more way to gain extra Greater eternal's and illusion dust. Since atleast on my server, demand is almost always there, but supply is limited.

Hope this helps to make some extra profit.

Feel free to comment/add additional info or items, share experiences about this specific gold making method or just discuss.

    Thank you.

EDIT: More specific info in tailoring part

You can link items in these forums by wrapping an item tag around the items' name: [ item]glowing thorium band[/ item]. Removing the spaces inside the brackets gives . See my sig for more info.

The profitable alternatives have been covered in this thread. Runecloth Headband generally works well, but I don't think any of the items you linked will shuffle profitably on most servers. Huge Emeralds and Azerothian Diamonds run at 20g each last I checked. 10-20g per vision dust is a lot more than I'm getting here. I doubt a whole stack even sells for that much.

If thorium is at 1g, I'd go for Enchanted Thorium Blades or prospect -> sell gems.

No no. I dont want to link just the items. But the mats to see what to use in every single item.

And as i said You will do thorium shuffle, where you will get huge emeralds, azerothian diamonds and blue sapphire.

These all three are most common when prospecting thorium. When i usually find cheap thorium, there is shitloads of it.

I sell some of my huge emeralds, azerothian diamonds and blue sapphires. But problem is the demand isnt high as for greater eternals and illusion dust. So i can dump some of it to these items, which will cost like 50s-1g x 5 (1 prospect) avg 3.75g+ 1 thorium bar 50-1g = avg 75s = cost of each items avg cost is around 4.5 g. + essence of undeath which i buy for 0-5g each. Illusion dust goes for 10g ea and greater eternals for 60-100g

As i counted, Enchanted thorium blades will be more expensive (atleast on my server) if i buy ore for the same price as the bars, than these JC crafter items. 1 item needs total 6 bars+ one needs essence of undeaths, which arent cheap, but if you follow their prices someone always dumps them for 1-5g each in time.

Oh god. i just wrote post about 20 lines long why you shouldnt make enchanted thorium blades instead of these items when having alot of cheap thorium ore to buy. And couldnt post it, because you edited my double post.

    Frustrating. It just didnt argree with me, and deleted the whole post without letting me copy it ;___;

Your server apparently has some higher prices on Illusion Dust and Greater Eternals. Dust is 5-8g on my server and eternals are 15-25g. Thorium ore fluctuates pretty wildly between 75s each to 3g each, depending on the day and time. The only one I could see feasible on my server is the , since blue sapphires are pretty cheap.

The problem with prospecting the thorium is the big RNG factor. You can get Star Ruby from prospecting Thorium Ore still. While, the chances of getting the others are good, I don't know if it's worth it. It's something I'd have to try if/when I find Thorium Ore cheap enough to experiment with and minimize the chance of losing some gold on the venture if it doesn't work out well for me.

Let me know if my numbers don't add up. Even at 0g/thorium bar you're making way, way more with thorium blades. I'm using TUJ prices by the way.

Dude you are now blindly looking at your own experience, and you are not reading/listening what i say.

First of all in that calculation. You're essence of undeath costs 15g each. And as i said, i will not buy those, but wait and watch the prices and when someone dumps them for half free, i snatch them. Second, as i said i dont buy the gems out of ah. But prospect thorium ores. Which requires 5 thorium ores, and prospecting gives you mostly more than 1 gem. http://www.wowhead.com/item=10620#prospecting Star rubies proc sometime, but you get mostly more than 1 gem per prospect. Large opals go for 20g~. As i tried to say, you will make these bands if your market is full of cheap thorium ore/bars, to turn your valuable gems into enchanting mats, which have more demand than these gems. If you have constant supply you are not probably gonna keep selling all your valuable gems prospected from thorium.

Also little bit to add up. Why you should smelt ore's to bars, to make enchanted thorium blades, if you could prospect 5 thorium ore and sell the gems for more profit? You are disagreeing with yourself too now.

If you get the gems trought prospecting, mats are 5 ores, and 1 thorium bar for setting. Per 1 ring (which equals 6 bars)

For your enchanted thorium it is 6 thorium bars, 2 enchanted thorium and rugged leather. Thats 2 enchanted thoriums and 1 rugged leather more than the JC items

Now explain it it me, how it would be better to make blades over these JC items, or prospecting thorium for more profit, i hope you understood how i do it... atleast now

I personally wouldnt even make these rings if the greater eternals wouldnt be so damn expensive here. Which means 80g each. You are right. Enchanted thorium blades give greater eternals when DE'ing but still you missed the point. As rugged leather isn't avaible all the time for reasonable price and dream dust supply is also low. Which means when doing large amounts. These tend to have less supply than you demand them. which means you either pay shitloads of them or dont make any

Biggest point. PROSPECTING WILL GIVE MOSTLY MORE THAN ONE GEM. EVEN 3 AT SAME TIME.

EDIT: i will try to collect 50 stacks of thorium, prospect and post you the results. As i want to try how much will i make from the gems + how much will it take to sell them all

That seems a bit harsh. He mentioned both thorium blades and prospecting the ore in his original post. The point he was trying to make is that if you decide to turn the ore into bars instead of prospecting it, you get a better ROI from the blades because the essences usually sell for much more than the dust. He wasn't saying that's what you should do, just suggesting that if you do, thorium blades are a better ROI than the jewelry.

So, if you have all gems lying around, you should sell them on their own and use the thorium bars for the blades instead of crafting the jewelry.

I understand what you're saying, please keep it civil. I was responding to your original post in which your clearly indicate that you're converting all thorium to jewelry and disenchanting. There was no mention of doing a simple prospect -> sell.

Prospected, thorium ore is worth about 2.5g. That's a gain of 1.5g per ore if you buy at 1g. You get more from your ore using enchanted thorium blades, about 3.5g (even more if you're getting cheap enchanted thorium, which is generally the case).

problem is. These compared with runecloth bands + solo runs, make too much enchanting materials to sell fast enough. Which in this case should be seen. its really about the prices, on our server most of these prices are so much different which makes normal prospecting like worth of about 10g or more.azerothians are 40g each and so are huge emeralds. Large opals are worth of 20g~ and you will get more than 1 gem. Theres not much supply for those. These gems wont sell much, but if someone levels JC you sella bout 10x, which means 400g in this case. I will leave some gems in ah now and post results after work

EDIT: not posting. Because there is stack of huge emeralds for 30g and stack of azerothian for same amount. I dont wanna buy him out neither wanna post my own for 10g less per each than normal price.
