Question Raising the price of herbs

Hey guys, first post here after I've been lurking around for a while.

I'm currently on Grim Batol EU on the horde side, and trying to spend some of my gold to control a market.

I've bought out the AH for Twilight Jasmines (for every stack below 85g) and relisted them (not all of course) on 85g per stack, hoping to raise the general price of it. Whiptails are about 80g per stack (400 stacks on that price as lowest right now), so I wouldnt wanna touch that one.

My question would be, do you think I can succeed in raising the price to around that? I got a good 150k to invest in it, but of course would want to avoid using that much money.

    Cheers =)

Stop while you can. Trying to control easily farmeable herbs is a really bad bet. Not only do you have the bots farming 24/7, but also "normal" people. When people see a higher price, it will encourage them to farm it even more. This will end up in endless undercutting, and you with empty pockets. Easy farmable mats are probably the worst thing to try and control, it's very few markets at all that is worth the effort. With 150k gold, try get into steady prof based markets instead, you got a decent enough wallet to enter any market from scratch.

What markets for example? I never had the time to get into AH'ing and I still don't due to RL stuff, so I don't know how to get properly into it and how to manage it

Honestly, if you're new to AH'ing, I wouldn't try to take over a market. Taking over a market takes time, deep understanding of the market (what affects prices, what the mats are used for, who the most likely customers are) and of your competitors (when they post, at what prices, what stock they're likely to have, how deep their pockets are, etc.), and even then you're not certain to make it. I personally managed to keep a pretty tight grip on the and markets for a few months, but it's not the most profitable thing I've ever done.

If you really, really want to take over a market: corner a niche market. Otherwise, I recommend sticking to the other, more traditional methods of making gold (flips, shuffles, crafts, DMC cards, and so on and so forth).

Depends what professions you have access to. Right now the elementium/obsidium shuffles are probably the easiest/safest things around, and thats without taking too much time aswell.

From tommorow I got a few days where I don't have any plans (Girlfriend is in london till friday night) for some time. Currently, to get money, I mainly just farm and get a few good deals (not as in epic deals, pattern or schematic deals etc) here and there (like today, 10 truegold 250g each, sells for 500g each normally).
So to expand in a more.. productive and maybe less time consuming way with my current stock of gold, where would you suggest me starting?

As for professions, I got access to jewelcrafting, enchanting, blacksmithing, leaterhworking, and inscription - the "crafting" profs usually without any Chaos orbs though. Will soon get an elixier master as well.

Blacksmithing: Crafted pvp gear, enchanting rods, belt buckles
    JC: Prospecting/selling gems/variouse ore shuffles
Enchanting: Scrolls, mats can ge gained with JC'ing, DE'ing and sell raw mats
LW: Pvp craftables, leg armors, leather scraps to pristine hide
    Inscription: Glyphs (doh), darkmoon cards

This is just from the top of my head, some of those profs i don't have myself.

Before you jump straight into the deep water, test the markets out first. Start slow, see what sells, how heavy competition is ect. Use these forums and the variouse blogs here to get more indepth information on the specific professions/markets. You WILL have to do some home work, monitoring markets ect.

The glyph market is something I'd like getting into, however I really don't know where to start since it's such a huge (in my opinion) range of lvls, classes, and glyphs in general.

For glyphs, use TSM, it pretty much does all the thinking for you on what to make. Start out small with it, like making items that have a 50+ or 100+ profit, then worked down the minimum profit, I personally go with 20g minimum per glyph. The lower you go with minimums the less you'll want to have more than 1 of any glyph tho, space can become an issue, I've got somewhere around 150 different glyphs atm, but only 1 of each, so the AH just holds em.

Profits-wise, if I babysit my market, I'll make like 4k-5k a day on them and I'll MFC bark at the same time for added profit, if I just post once for the day I usually get 1k-2k profit.

It doesn't matter if you have one of each or 20, it still takes the same space. Any more than that and you'll hit space issues. I personally use 3 posting alts to hold mine, which after a long toil this week have got back up to a half stack of each after not crafting since before glyphmas.
