On the Way to Gold Cap

How are you investing your money right now? I think everyone's dream is to reach the gold cap. Think about it. You would have enough to do anything in the game.

A couple weeks ago I hit 50k, I decided I wanted to get to 100k in a month. It seemed possible. I bought low and sold high and hit 100k in a week.

I have 150k now and decided to invest it all into darkmoon trinkets. Hopefully it will work out well. I think worst case scenario I'd break even in 3 weeks, if not make alot of gold.

What are you investing your money in right now?

I'm definately not investing in darkmoon cards. They're time came and went in my opinion. I guess they're still profitable but nowhere near as much. There is not as much demand and too much supply. Also, as you know, next patch introduces new easy to obtain trinkets from 5man heroics. But idk maybe they are still a good money maker.

I only had one high lvl toon JC/Ench and it wasn't amazingly profitable. Inscription has been amazing from the start and I never took hold of it, I power lvl'd a dk from 60-75 in 3 days to max alchemy/inscrip. I shoulda bought mats before hand. two weeks from now trinkets will be running dry, there's no trinks in 4.1 heroic drops, they will be in demand still. I broke the rule of not dumping all your eggs into one basket, but hopefully it works out

Blizzard have annouced Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub as the new 5man heroics, and also announced it would be dropping itemlevel 353 epics there, the only itemlevel 353 epics datamined atm are these, and there is no trinkets there. The trinkets you talk about have much higher itemlevel, and will probably be dropping from a raid instance somewhere.

Lets not forget also the avg ilvl required to just get *in* to the troll heroics... Which is more or less gonna require people gearing alts to drop some cash on a crafted epic (there's no way they're gonna grind the old heroics for a month right?) - so which is it gonna be: 10k for a non-trink which will be replaced early into the "new" raiding tier, oooor ~14k for what for most classes (tanks excluded ofc) is 2nd or at worst 3rd best in slot even allowing for the new trinks

The happy days of the DMC trinkets are certainly gone, where you could charge extortionate prices but it is still possible to make a reasonable profit while prices are going to keep declining so i am keeping a much smaller stock to ensure i can sell it pretty much month to month rather than having a huge stockpile which is constantly depreciating.
The new content is going to be a bit of a wild card to the market as new content equals more competition from drops but also means people are looking to buy up their ilevel more to access that better content so overall i think it will even itself out and we will simply see an average steady decline of prices.

Until they start handing out BoE trinkets en mass to compete with the DMC trinkets they will always have a market, it will simply keep depreciating over time.

There will also be a need for DMC trinkets. I think that the time has past to make a lot of gold from them, because players already have them or have another trinket. DMC trinkets are good if you need a trinket and don't have the time to run a dungeon until it drops.

One investment that I am utilizing is [especially right now] flipping darkmoon cards. With the faire ending today, for this next week I will buy up the "excess" cards on the AH that folks are dumping to get a bit of their investment back. You can see them sitting in the AH consistently for 30-50% of the "normal" week before and week of the Darkmoon Faire. You need to really focus on the market of when to flip them back, if you are using Auctioneer, you can see in the tooltip what price you paid for them in case you forget (as it is a "hold" in your bank for two weeks to let the market stablize).

And who cannot forget the Obsidium Shuffle? Just keep an eye on the daily fluctuating prices of the dust and essences...or just use the addon OreCrusher to get an "estimate" if the current cost of ore has enough value for the flip (the addon gives a generic example of how much you can profit on the shuffle, and very easy to use).

And as always, I have been doing a few more things (tired of reading yet?) the vendor recipe flip (neutral AH vendors are the best and easiest flips) and the "flipping" of items in the AH is also consistent.

PvP crafted gear (blacksmithing and leatherworking) are producing some consistent results, just be aware of what is going on in your AH, as some items sell crafted for less than mats cost. Once again, it's all about checking your server prices before investing time, effort, and gold in your niche.

Yeah flipping darkmoon card is a great gold making option. On my server cards are selling for very cheap prices when the faire ends and i can make cheap decks and sell the trinkets for great profit when faire comes to town again

I've been dabbling in the glyph market as it seems some of our major sellers have disappeared - at least on my secondary side of the realm. It has given life to me leveling that ah toon a bit which has been fun. The DMF has been more about rep for me this time and I'm almost exalted - should get at the beginning of the next faire and then I can drop the trinkets as I want My biggest money is coming from turning in dense stone, and lowbie decks atm. I've left my other markets to my partner and have instead been focusing on clearing out what I got from turn ins. I may actually have broken even or even made money by the time I'm finished We've also seen a boost in the bottom line - much larger than we anticipated - this week in comparison to the last two weeks when things were slow.
