In need of some urgent advice

    Hello.

I'm suspecting that I'm in a undercutting war with a bot. The reason I think that is because he keeps undercutting me by 1g on the epic Soul Blade. He does this at 3 AM, as soon as I undercut him he does the same to me less than a minute after. He keeps undercutting whatever price I put it up on. First it was up for 29k and it was then he started. I slowly lowered my price to see if he were to follow me. Since I snatched the thing for 17k I'm willing to go far in this undercutting war. We are now at 21k and this is were I figured out I was probably against a bot.

Now my question is. If I go down to something really low, say 10k. Will it undercut me again so I can buy snatch it from him?

I need some advice and fast please

TLDR: Should I undercut a bot so much so that I can snatch it from him. Or will the bot just snatch mine?

I know some bots that buys the item for a set price, say the set price is probably around 5k. If I put it up at 10k, the bot wont buy the item and I will make a good profit.

Is it worth the risk? I've only got about 30k fluid gold, + items on the AH worth ~~ 40k. (including the soul blade )

    Thanks for any advice.

EDIT: The player is not online ingame. Now that I cancelled my auction he undercut the highest one by 1g instead. So now it's back up to 29k.

My advice would be sell the item in trade

He may not be a bot , or check all his auctions and try the plan with lower value items

He only has BOE epics worth atleast 13k on the AH. I'm going the safe way on this one though. Perhaps some day when I have more gold I'll take the shot ^^

Either sell in trade or just let him sell his and wait for the next buyer. Your biggest threat is if he got the item free in a drop, and thus has no problems letting the price drop below your 17K barrier. (If he goes to 16K, you'll be waiting for second seller anyway.)

If he's undercutting you without logging in, then you're dealing with a remote AH bot. I know a thing or two about those. Based on your description, I'd say it's operating under the following logic:
-Buying: Scan all epics (maybe just 85 epics). Buy any that are under X% of their historical price.
-Selling: Check for undercuts on own auctions. If undercut, cancel. List anything in mailbox.

Unfortunately, you have no way of knowing what the historical price that the bot has saved for Soul Blade is. If you did, you could try to snatch his Soul Blade as you describe; but in reality, it's more likely you'll overshoot and he'll snatch yours when you list it too cheaply. There's a more reliable solution here: remote AH accounts are limited to 200 transactions/day, which includes canceling and posting. All you have to do is undercut him 100 times and then you'll be free to sell your sword

Thanks for the advice guys, and I think Athkatla is correct since he only trades in epics. I'm not going to guess his buylimit or undercut him 100 times ( 1k ah listing fees, yikes ). I'm just going to be patient and keep on barking in the tradechat.

Have anyone else experienced something similar? This is the first time I've noticed that kind of bot and I've flipped atleast 10+ epics during this last month. Are the bots rare or have I just been lucky?

There's no "standard" remote AH bot. I haven't ever seen one like the one you describe, but it's easy enough to intuit the underlying algorithm. You could implement pretty much any AH strategy you can conceive of into a bot, as long as it falls under the transaction limit, and some strategies would be much more subtle than 24/7 undercutting.

If you were willing to put a bit of time into it you could use up his transaction allowance for the RAH, which i think is around 200?
This is even better as when you stop posting he automatically posts back up to the next highest so you can drag him down a bit then let him pop back up again until he reaches his limit.

Personally i would follow Zamboni's tactics though. If he's posting back up to 29k when your not posting and he's not online it shouldn't be too hard to undercut him via trade.

Based on what you described, you may not have to invest nearly that much to run the bot out of transactions. If you undercut, the bot cancels and undercuts you (2 transactions). If you then cancel, the bot cancels and raises back to the next highest (2 transactions). That's 4 transactions to your single post. You would only be posting at 12 hours. The other thing you might be able to do is get other people to help cooperate against the bot. There must be other people who are getting undercut as well. If you can recruit a handful of others, you would only need to make a few 12 hour posts.

Have in mind canceling doesn't count towards your daily 200 transactions.
As it's been said before, just sell it through trade. If he's really a RAH bot, he has nothing on you.
