    Selling Reputation Kits

This is something I tried in the past, but didn't do too well with it. Now with a little more thought put into it (and some help from blizzard) I can easily make atleast 300-500g per week with little effort.

So basically the idea is based off of leveling kits, which contain all the items from 1-525 in a profession. However with this, I've been doing it with the Thorium Brotherhood faction.

First off, let me remind you that everyone has a different reputation with different factions, which is why I have this simple little spreadsheet. Because I put this together in only a couple minutes, here's how it's set up...(Using the spreadsheet is totally optional, however it is convenient when selling partial kits)

    1. This section is where you insert how much rep the person already has. If they were 5000/12000 in honored, then you would put 3000 in the first purple cell, 6000 in the second cell, 5000 in the third cell, and then leave the rest at 0.

    2. In this section all you need to do is set what price you are buying your fiery/lava cores at. Personally I'll buy them anywhere from under 10g to under 15g with my snatch list.

    3. The third section doesn't require you to change anything, but it will tell you how many cores you need. It is set to rounding, so I will usually throw in an extra core just to be safe.

    4. In the final section, you only need to change what type of % return you want on your items. For example, if you want to make 150% profit, then you would type 250% (100% return plus the 150% profit) in the purple cell. Below it, you can see how much to sell your kit for, and how much profit you would be making.

Now once you have your s and s, you can start advertising in trade chat. Personally, I like to use a macro to save time since I'm only making a 400-600g from selling a kit. My advertisement usually goes something like this:
WTS all the items needed to get exalted with the Thorium Brotherhood. Get one faction closer to [achievement]45 exalted reputations[/achievement]! pst
When a person wants to buy it, I ask for their current reputation so I can plug it into the spreadsheet and figure out how much to charge them for what items. Then when they're ready, just trade them the cores, possibly give them a ride with , and enjoy.

Quick summary for anyone not wanting to read the above:
    1. Get the spreadsheet shown in the picture.
    2. Add lava cores and fiery cores to your snatch list for around 20g each.
    3. When you have 21, start advertising.
    4. Sell the person however many cores they need to get to exalted.
    5. Collect your gold.

This can be done with other factions, but I just do the Thorium Brotherhood because they are easy.

I've seen it done with cooking leveling quite a bit. I had a friend who would take you to org, hand you recipes and fish and tell you what to cook all the way to Dalaran in Wrath. He usually sold them for 1k per package and would sell a couple a month. Now he loved to fish while he was stuck in telecons so that helped, but they definitely work well on some servers.

I have one suggestion for you that can help keep you cost efficient - be sure to ask buyers what level their guild is as the bonus rep gains carry though, so you can get a couple leftover.

No reason to tell a person what they're buying aside from exalted rep until you trade it to them. They're getting what they paid for and you're saving on a core or two.
The guild is not composed of heroes. Heroes are what the guild kills.

Nice idea - and I'll also give you a suggestion. You're selling these WAY TOO CHEAPLY. You're making 100-200g per kit, and think about how much time you're spending on it! You would be better off farming Saronite Ore or something like that in terms of GPH. Secondly, people WILL pay a premium for something that saves them time. You can't look at it as the cost of the mats vs. a markup. That's where you START. But you should also look at the time you're saving someone, the grief you're saving them, and the GUARANTEE that they are possibly or close to getting an achievement.

i can't answer your next question - how much - but what I do know is that I bet you could sell these for a lot more.

I was thinking about the pricing as I was writing the post. The numbers in the spreadsheet are from when I started, and I just felt like using them to keep it simple. I'm making about 300-500g profit currently, and still slowly increasing.
think about how much time you're spending on it!
Honestly I'm not really spenind that much time on it though. All I do is buy the cores when they appear on my snatch list, and when I notice I have the twenty-two, I just occasionally click my macro while crafting/posting other items to advertise in trade chat. Even putting in the numbers in the spreadsheet only takes a a minute or two.

people WILL pay a premium for something that saves them time.
Again, my numbers were from the beginning, and I wasn't sure if people would actually be interested in this or not. :P

Irrelevant. You're saving them X time, and that's what you charge for. It takes me 5 seconds to cut a gem but I wouldn't post it for a 10g markup because of that - we post at max price it will sell for. Anything less is just foolish.

Well now you know All they can do is say no, they can't cut your arm off. Start high, work down if they negotiate it.

Very, very nice idea ! I am thinking that if more reputations / professions are added to this, it can potentially be qute a powerfull tool for both leveling professions/reputations and gold making.
    It's not a bug, it's a feature !

Like i wrote back in December I sold some of these Thorium Brother Hood Exalted packs at around 2.500G each.

    http://consortium.stormspire.net/sho...-Changes/page2

Besides from another exalted rep, one of the best selling "arguments" i had, was that the buyer not only got 1 extra exalted, but also gained acces to the best caster hairloom enchant: . There also some nice but not so usefull recipes for other professions down there.

I agree on the point that your price is "WAY TOO CHEAPLY" - i have never seen others besides my self sell these packs, and especially with the it sold very well (I stopped for a while while people where leveling and doing new content, but as more and more people start camping the big cities I think I'll start sell these again at some point - i have loads of materials stocked up.)

I think the biggest thing being overlooked is that you are enabling more people to make . I make more gold off 1 enchant then you do the whole kit. I've sold about 12 of these since Cata, and only one other person has the enchant on my server.

I would still buy the mats that can give you the rep, but relist them at ridiculous prices and hopefully others posting will follow your pricing. This will drive more people to your enchant auctions.

I have a couple of these kits put together since I reported the rep change a couple months ago, just have not spent the time spamming trade yet, but I was planning on charging 5k for the faction fron neutral to exalted with a direbrew port right to the turn in spot and a mage portal right back out I figure a five minute exalted is worth players 5k.
