Hello Amy! I'm glad you chose to come here as the folks that frequent these forums are truly experts. They are helpful, knowlegable and insightful.

Why not post your introduction to the Introduce Yourself Forum

Here’s how to get a start in goldmaking using tailoring.

Buy netherweave cloth at 5g a stack or less – that’s 25s each. Turn it into bolt of netherweave. It takes 5 netherweave to make one bolt so your cost to make a bolt is 1g 25s.

Then, turn the bolts into netherweave bags.

Each bag requires 4 bolt of netherweave and 1 rune thread. Rune tread costs 50s each, so the cost of one bag to you is 5g 50s. You can buy rune thread from any tailoring supply vendor.

Put the bags on the AH at double the price or even more as the bags are about to rocket in price. Look at what he prices are and undercut them by one copper.

Keep checking the AH to see if you've been undercut and if you have, cancel your auctions and repost them.

This is only the beginning. What you really need to do is acquire some capital. It's difficult to start your goldmaking career without money unless you know what you're doing.

If you really are serious about making gold - and I mean serious - contact me and we can arrange a loan.

Well for starters I'd start by reading the blogs and getting in the mindset. If this were me, here is what I would do:

Get an addon to track the Auction House, I like Auctioneer. Markco has a nice guide for getting started in Auctioneer.

You don't have any capital to start with so probably what I would do is since you want to make your Mage your main is get mining on the mage if you don't already have it to pair with your JC. Go ahead and level her up to 85. Do quests, loot everything. Since she's 64 and your DK is a tailor, take all the netherweave that you loot and mail it to your DK. Have your DK make as many as it can and list them on the AH. Why? Because.

Take the ore that you loot and use it to level your JC, you'll need it. JC is a great money maker and well worth the investment.

After I was done leveling my Mage, I would have a pretty good sized bankroll (early estimates show players making ~19k gold going from 80-85) and I'd be in full swing "buying low/selling normal" while using my JC to create a steady income. I'd consider dropping mining, but with only 1 profession, you may need it if Cata ore is still really expensive.

I would then level my DK, adding a 2nd profession to the DK, probably enchanting since you've already got Tailoring & JC (both go great together), or perhaps Herbalism for the extra xp/raw materials to sell.

Once both are 85, I'd continue to play like normal but running booming Bag/Enchant/JC/item flip business and do a little dance praising the Bloggers and the fine folks of the Consortium. Well, maybe I'd create a Goblin Rogue with Alchemy/Herbalism then drop herbalism for BS if I kept mining on my Mage but hey its your world!

With Cata hitting tonight, you might have other plans, but since you already have a L80, you could easily accumulate a couple of hundred gold simply by doing a bunch of daily quests (Tournament of Champions, Cooking daily in SW, ...). That's not really the "Wind Trader" way to create a nest egg, but it's a lot faster than playing the low-level AH or hitting up city vendors for cheap low-level items and reselling them in the AH, which is how a L1 would need to build a nest egg.

If you'd started a few days ago, you could've made 100g+/day for about 10 mins work doing the cooking dailies in SW and selling the meat to folks hoping to be Realm First cooks @ 525. Too late now, though.

If you have some time in the next few weeks, level up a gathering skill (mining probably best, but any of mining / herbalism / skinning are good) as the second profession on your DK and farm Cata. The gathered items (ore, herbs, leather) will sell for boat loads (100g+/stack) for the next month or two as those of us with far more money than time powerlevel our non-gathering professions.

    Good luck!

Thank you both Fade and Cz4ever, i will keep what you both have said in mind with professions and leveling, and honestly i don't really understand how to do dailies. Your comments are much appreciated x.

They are quests that one can take every day. They usually have high rewards in terms of gold. Look here for an explanation.

Are we taking Amy under our wings and turning a gold factory out of her? We were once like you but its never too late to start. Get your tailoring up to max level and work on picking up cheap mats and selling crafted stuff. This is a good place to start for gold trading through profession crafting especially in Cataclysm. The next place is to visit the bloggers' thread within in this great Consortium forum. Get the know some stuff really well and then come back for more.

All the topics in this forum is about 2 days worth of reading and can be overwhelming for a beginner.

The internet is really useful when you're not sure what to do in Warcraft. Why not look up dalies and do some research? A bit of reading will pay dividends for you.
