Question Looking for addon to replenish local stock from mailbox (item id problem with JC)

    Hello fellow goblins

I'm finally trying to solve a particular problem that has been annoying me for several months and would like to ask if any of you know of an addon that could help me with this.

    Here is the situation:

Over the length of Cata I've accumulated quite a large stockpile of blue quality jewelry as a byproduct of the ore shuffle. Most of the items were mailed off to various alts and have been bouncing between mailboxes ever since, while a portion gets listed on the auction house by one of my bank chars every day.

What I've found to be extremely annoying is the lack of an efficient method to replenish the local stock of my bank char from the mailbox.

So far I've manually kept track of the daily sales and hand picked items from the mailbox to fill the holes in my inventory. This has been a very tedious task and depending on the amount of sales on any given day, it was not unusual for me to spend 10-15 minutes just picking jewelry from the mailbox.

    Would I am looking for:

My dream solution would be an addon that lets me specify minimum local stock for specific items with an option to refill stock every time I visit the mailbox.

I have already looked into Inventorium which does all this brilliantly as long as each and every item has a unique item id. Unfortunately the JC jewelry shares one item id across all versions of the item type (e.g. one id for nightstone choker even though there are lots of versions with different stats).

What this means is that Inventorium, for all its brilliance, cannot tell an int/mastery piece from one with str/crit and would pick one at random to put in my bag.

    Help, please!

Does anybody know of an addon that with similar functionality that is capable of differentiating items by name instead of item id?

No, but I may suggest you to use just one banker for holding the jewelry instead of multiple. Post everything, mail everything, return everything when you feel like restocking. Even if you got a thousand of rings and amulets, that won't take long - Auctioning will simply filter out items that are already present.

Let me break it down for you:

    1. Auctioneer posts every item (I'd post x2, but that depends on your realm)
    2. Auctioneer mails everything that is left to the bank (using TSM_Mailing, obviously)
    Restock:
    3. Auctioneer posts everything that remains
    4. Banker returns all the mail back to auctioneer using Postal (three clicks to return up to 50 mails)
    5. Auctioneer takes items out of the mailbox, posts whatever he can, returns the rest. Repeat until the mailbox is empty.

Keep in mind that even if the addon that does exactly what you are describing would exist, you'd still be limited to restock from only 50 mails, so this way is not actually inefficient - there simply isn't an efficient way of operating massive numbers of items.

Hi David and thank you for your suggestion!

First of all, I'm confident I could reorganize my posting/restocking after your example and get one of each item on the auction house every posting cycle.

On the flip side, I would have to repeat the entire procedure for every posting cycle, as there would be no reserve stock kept by my bank char.

What I was really hoping to do, is to pull a limited stock (say 4-5 of each item/stat combination) into my bags and bank and then post/repost until I'm out of a certain combo.

That would probably limit the restocking procedure to once or twice a week and be much less time consuming.

But alas, the right tool has yet to be found

The addon you are looking for is "Bulk Mail Inbox".

Once you open your mailbox, you'll see a window with all items that are currently reachable. At the top there is a search box, where you can specifically 1) enter items by name (it will also react to single letters, e.g. "bl" would trigger "cinderBLoom" and ""heartBLossom"), but you can also 2) select single items within the list. Either way, you can choose "take all" or "take selected", and Bulk Mail Inbox will retrieve the items from the appropriate letter.
I fail to see the source of your certainty.

So this "Bulk Mail Inbox" basically does for the mailbox what other addons like Arkinventory or Bagnon do for your bags and bank?

That sounds quite useful, thank you!

I'm still pursuing some kind of automated approach, but maybe I'll be able to switch to a combination of Dumpster macros, Bulk Mail Inbox and something similar to the remailing strategy that David suggested.

I'll let you know if can get it up and running over the weekend

    I thought I'd post a quick update:

I've settled for a temporary solution based on 10 Dumpster macros to move a set amount of jewelry into my bank and another 2 macros to swap bags in and out when I'm posting another set of auctions.

This solution sadly is far from elegant, as it takes up a lot of macro space and requires that I cycle all jewelry through my banker's mailbox about 2 times per week to refill my depleted stock.

Whoever came up with this shared item-id thing really deserves to get chained to an in-game mailbox and sort through hundreds of letters worth of jewelry...

So "Bulk Mail Inbox" didn't work for you?

Oh, it does work quite well and I have already installed it for most of my characters who handle the bulk of my mail.

It should simplify my restocking process, provided that I manage to keep track of daily sales and that the necessary replacement jewelry actually ends up in the first 50 slots of my mailbox. Off the top of my head I'd say there are about 150 mails worth of jewelry in there, so if I get unlucky, I have to cycle through quite a lot of them to find the right ring/amulet.

The dumpster macros on the other hand were quite useful to build the initial stock in the bank. Using the /only switch, I could just hit the macro a few of times and then mail all the remaining jewelry off to another character - confident that all the items I needed had been moved to the bank.
