    Goblinventory Discussion Thread

Thanks to @Erorus, and the brainstorming of our community, we now have a new inventory export addon called Goblinventory.

This addon allows you to export your inventory to a web interface where you can edit your published inventory and produce a web link which you can share with friends, customers, and the like.

This should serve beneficial to those running a guild, a transmogrification business, or other niches that demand this sort of thing.

If you have any feedback, concerns, or suggestions for Goblinventory, feel free to speak up!

Discussion of Goblinventory after it has gone live begins here.

Erorus has stated that he is no longer developing/improving this addon. Hopefully, though, he will fix issues as they pop up.

-Currently, Goblinventory is BROKEN since 5.0.4.

    Original Post
I'm looking for an addon that will let me export inventory data. It can be any format, preferably XML or any spreadsheet format.

Basically, I have a large stock of mog gear on 2 different toons.
I also manage a forum thread on my server's forums that has all my sets and individual pieces for sale listed.
The sets are just typed up with a wowhead link for that set.
All individual pieces are accompanied with their clickable link that is default to the WoW forums.

Now, it would be nice to have both the actual item name and the itemID printed out in this export.
The ID is a must, as that is what the item links in the WoW forums use.

For now, just being able to export the data to a worksheet of some sort will work.

Ultimately, I would like to be able to have the spreadsheet auto sort itself based on armor and weapon types, but not needed at this time.

*IF* someone already has made an addon/export system like this, inform me! Even if it's not an official addon published to curse or whatnot.

Now, something else that is interesting I have seen done in the past were website export profilers.
I've been in guilds where, on their website, there was a feature where your inventory was exported automatically to the website, as long as you had a certain addon installed.

Something like this would work, too.

I know it's not exactly what you had in mind, but I just today I started working on a new WoW library that'll do JSON and CSV encoding/decoding of Lua tables. I might consider adding other formats (like XML) in the future, but excel can do CSV natively. With this it wouldn't be too hard to write a some code (might even fit in a macro) to export data from TSM_ItemTracker / Altoholic / etc.

I've been looking for something like this as well so I can use the forums as another way to sell items. Even if there was a simple addon that simply produced a list that you could just copy and paste into excel, you could use google spreadsheets to look up the item IDs (Sadly you can only do 50 at a time, but hey, it's something).

That's an interesting idea. Maybe this is something I'll just add to ItemTracker then once I finish this library.

    That would be pretty cool.
I really need to commit to learning to write programs and addons myself. I have the ability to wrap my head around it and then some. Just a matter of picking up the material to learn it.
I've got a jillion ideas myself for addons or even tweaks to addons I currently have installed to make them fit my exact needs.

Having something that can easily convert my inventory of mog gear over to a data sheet then over to a forum post with links in as few steps as possible, with the ability to make changes where needed, would be a dream feature any of us could benefit from. Oh, the time it would save me.

    @Sapu94 @TimB

I was looking around at what's already out there, and BankItems has something similar to what I mentioned, but it pulls everything including equipped gear, currency, etc. It's easy to just copy and paste the part you want, but if an addon was made so it just lists sell-able items (Maybe with the option to include banks and the AH), that'd be much more efficient.

As for getting the ID, google docs can do it as well as put it into the [item="ID" /] code so all you have to do is copy/paste it into your forum thread if the addon doesn't do it.

This would be a very useful addon for my guild (a real one). We have a 7 tab vault, but also a 4-5 tab alt vault for holding less in-demand items. The problem is people don't want to seem to put an alt in it to see what's there, and there's no other way than taking screenshots and posting regularly on our forums (which we don't do, due to the hassle and low demand) for members to know what we have, short of asking an officer. This would frankly be a dream if I could use an addon to export a list with quantities of everything in a vault, including tab/col/row and post it on the guild forums.

I'll work on something. People seem to want this for some reason. It's a simple enough thing to do, I'm surprised it's not already out there.

    It needs a catchy name.

Oh wow. Something like this looks like what I;m searching for... too bad the website doesn't exist anymore.
But by what joystik is saying about it, it looks pretty close to what I'm looking for.

To give you an idea of what else I am looking for in something like this, here is my forum post acting as my transmog shop for my server.
Being able to easily turn my inventory into this 'thread shop' would save me loads of time.
Until then, I'll see if I can mess with what @Valdron mentioned and excel to get some sort of system working.

It's a bit out of date. Missing a lot of items I have in stock, but, it's just to give you an idea of one of the ways I move mog gear.
Basically, I sell sets as sets, and keep doubles of popular sets to complete more to sell after the first ones sell.
Triplets or quads of set pieces, I usually sell those alone.
So, being able to edit my list, removing those doubles so they are not listed on the forum page, is a must.

Of course, I don't expect to see a tool that will automtically write my forum post for me.
Having a sorted list of wow forum item ID links would be just perfect.

Hmm, so the method I was using works most of the time, but there are quite a few items it doesn't work with, such as because it's name is similar to . Looks like I need a new way to do it so I can get 100% success.
