Thread: Add-Ons

    Add-Ons

Here's a list of addons I use and a brief description of what they all do. Feel free to add your own! When recommended a particular addon that I have not used, I have added the contributor's name in parenthesis. If I've added a "*" it means it's a personal favorite that I use everyday (your mileage may vary).

Please note: all downloads come from curse, wowinterface, wowace (nothing on the interwebs is 100% safe, but many people here on this site download and use from these places all the time.)

    MAIL

    Postal *
Highly customizable mail retrieval add-on. Pro-tip: still waiting for the next batch of mail arrive? If you want to lessen your downtime, you can type or make a macro with: /reload ui. This will force the next batch from the server!

    MailOpener (Moravec)
    Elite afk mail retrieval system

    AH DATABASES

    Auctioneer *
The grand-daddy of essential AH addons. Amazing detail to determine item valuation, "snatch lists", resale tool, assisted selling, you name it.

Just in case, adding in this link, which leads direct to the addon author's website. It's not often it happens but sometimes you may need to temporarily revert to the Preview or Developer versions. This is especially true after some major patches (a.k.a. thanks 4.0.1!).

    AuctionLite (calianna)
    Light-weight version of Auctioneer

    SELLING/BUYING

    TradeSkillMaster (TSM)*
In a nutshell, you setup Groups of items and control how you sell them, with extreme detail. TSM by itself is basically a core. To make it into the robust all-in-one type addon, you need to add in specific modules. Color me impartial, but the TSM suite is the best set of downloads you can have in your arsenal once you get serious about making gold.

    Auctionator *
Similar to TSM, this addon lets you post stuff quickly. The setup is much simpler than TSM, simply assign general stack sizes and undercut amounts. Does an excellent job at posting items you want to keep a closer eye on and also for buying large quantities of items.

    CRAFTING

    Lil Sparky's Clone (a.k.a. Skillet)
This mod assists with crafting by letting you build up a crafting queue. It will show a shopping list of items you need to acquire in order to craft the items you added to your queue and will purchase them automatically when you visit a reagent vendor (like parchments, vials, etc.).

    Lil Sparkys Workshop
Open your tradeskill menu and it will use auctioneer data to quickly show you the value of the finished goods vs. its raw materials.

    KevTool Queue
KTQ provides a very intuitive way to craft. I can tell KevTool I want to have (10) of each glyph currently selling over 5g. It checks AH data I scanned with Auctioneer, asks Altaholic to check my glyph-sellers inventory level, imports all the data to Lil Sparky's Clone and finally creates the crafting queue. Very awesome, and necessary, time saver when you get serious about glyph sells - works great for anything though!

    MANAGEMENT & MISC.

    Altaholic
Keeps tracks of gear/inventory/mail/profession specifics/and a whole bunch of stuff for all your toons and helps your other money-making addons play well together.

    Bagnon *
Simple bag consolidation addon with an integrated search tab. I highly recommend coupling this with BankStack (see below)

    ArkInventory
An advanced bag management system. A bit overboard? Perhaps! But many people love this one b/c of all the neat features.

    Auditor & BigPicture
Both these mods help understand your overall worth. Auditor will track incoming/outgoings for all your individual toons. BigPicture will assign AH values to your inventory and add it to your liquid assets to give you an idea of your overall worth. I look at the BigPicture occasionally but, for me, it always messes up my Auctionator tabs at the AH (your experience may vary!)

    ItemAuditor (MoneyBox)
"Keeps track of how much you paid for items (materials, etc), and transfers the 'debt' to crafted items. Can also tell you which profitable items to craft and then exports the list to skillet ready for you to make (kind of a KTQ replacement, but smarter)."

    xcalc (Sykes)
Fancy pants in-game calculator - your alt+tab button will thank you!

    SlyProfits (ocho)
"see what you can make for a profit from all your characters at the time of scanning" = brilliant.

    Dumpster (m0rce)*
This one is great! Quickly move large batches of products from point A to point B (for example, all enchanting scrolls from bags to inventory with one command).

    GnomeWorks (LadySilverwolf)
A replacement for your trade skill window, assists with crafting.

    BankItems (LadySilverwolf)
Another option for inventory managements, show your guildbank/inventory/etc. for you or any toon on your account.

    HandyNotes
    (LadySilverwolf)
Take your Limited Supply runs to the next level by adding custom notes on vendors. HandyNotes and Routes (below) reportedly play nice with [URL="http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/tomtom.aspx"]TomTom too.

    Routes
    (LadySilverwolf)
Another Limited Supply run helper, simply set the most efficient routes for your vendors and you're off to the races!

    BankStack*
This makes your inventory, bank, or gbank pretty with a single click.

    SOCIAL

    OnlineFriendsMonitor (Saint)
Easier tracking of "friends" <cough, errr> competitors!

    FriendsShare resurrection (Saint)
Share friends/ignore list across your different toons

    TradeForwarder (Saint)
Read trade from anywhere (as long as someone else with addon is in a trade city!)

    Craft Ninja (Aeg)
From the pappy of TSM, Sapu, comes in a fun little addon you can use to stalk the crafting of those around you. Good write up here.

Bear in mind that the version of Skillet posted on Curse won't work with KTQ. You need this one, Lil Sparky's clone of it.

If you have time in-between, you can type or make a macro with: /reload ui to get to them faster!
I've recently discovered a new addon that used to work alongside Postal, but now doesn't require it, although you may want to keep postal for its sending features. Its called MailOpener and essentially does the same thing, except that a)it sets its opening speed to 0.1secs by default and b) it automagically refreshes the mailbox every minute so there is no longer any need to /reloadui or to click Open All again - true afk mail opening at last

You can find it here on Curse.

For those that are looking for a lighter-weight auction mod, I really like AuctionLite (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...ctionlite.aspx). It does the basics very well if you don't need all the configuration of Auctioneer.

    One of my favourites

A wrote a post last month on using it to buy materials - Buying Mats with AuctionLite

Keep an eye out of your competitors with the combine of these two addons:

OnlineFriendsMonitor (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...tails/ofm.aspx): Track your competitors without opening the friendlist panel, when they log in and out, when they change zone or do a quick heroic dungeon.

FriendsShare resurrection (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...urrection.aspx):This addon shares your friend list and ignore list with all your character as you log in, so you can track them while you farm or on raids.

TradeForwarder (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...forwarder.aspx): This shiny lets you read the trade channel all over Azeroth as long as somebody who uses this addon too standing in a city.

Well im sure i did some misspelling, feel free to edit

This one is absolutely brilliant. I've looked for this before and couldn't find anything.

An addon I use quite regularly since I got it - xCalc. Adds an ingame calculator upon typing /calc and does a quick in chat sum for you if you for example type /calc 7*9 it would immediately return with 63. Less alt tabbing is always time saved.

I'm also considering working on a post for a tutorial for every addon that I use and how to set it up, if anyone would be interested?
I used to run a blog called Just Another Goblin

I quit for 7 months, now I'm back. Hi...

I am very interested! I have had no luck finding a comprehensive guide to setting up AH addons, so I'm pretty much guessing- with okay results (I made 1k in a few hours using basic Auctioneer functions). I would love to read a guide with a lot of detail and explanations (ie how and why it works, not just do this and profit).
